Little bit about Cort...

History (taken from Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cort_Guitars)

Jack Westheimer set up business connections with Japanese guitar makers in the 1960s with the intention of importing Japanese made guitars into America. Some of the many brands that Jack Westheimer is associated with were Teisco, Cortez, Pearl, Silvertone, Kingston, Cort and many others. In 1973, Jack Westheimer founded the Yoo-Ah company (“you-and-I&rdquo in South Korea with Yung H. Park as a business partner. The Yoo-Ah company would eventually be called Cor-Tek which was named after Jack Westheimer's Cortez brand name. Yung H. Park eventually acquired the operations of the Cor-Tek company. Cor-Tek manufactures Cort branded guitars as well as engaging in OEM manufacturing for numerous brands.

Things you should know

Cort is the largest guitar manufacturer of the world. They aim to build the best guitars, with the best woods available (even if it is a cheap wood, i can assure you its a good quality wood). Brands such as Jackson, Ibanez, ESP/LTD, these guitars were made by Cort factories, which later are sold to the big companies. So, next time, think a little bit, because you might be playing a Cort guitar

Currently got an '80's Cort Performer Series double cut, set neck, h/s/s, 3 toggle switch, floyd rose. It's waiting for brand new EMG pickups and also an OFR to be fitted which should be done by Christmas hopefully. Oh and I love the Cort M600T that guitar is secks besides the ****ty control layout which bugs me on all the M series guitars.

I've got a Cort KX5, and I love it! Great, great guitar. I'd love a Jazzbox

I like the look of the blue M600T, tremolo one. Anyone know if it has a maple cap under the flamed veneer?

I read that on the website, i didn't know who he was but its not that often you see an endorsement with them, not to say they suck.

What do you mean :S?

The NY whatever may suck, but i think that Bolan has some great skills

I currently posses a Cort Zenox Z42 an EMG 81 in the neck and an EMG 85 in the bridge. with a proper setup and neck angle adjustment this guitar is by far my favourite. I use it over my Ibanez 350MDX.

I have a Cort Acoustic that came fitted with a Fishman pickup. Brilliant guitar.
I have been playing over 20 years and currently play in an acoustic duo gigging 1-2 times a week.
This guitar has never let me down. My bandmate's Maton is another story - temperamental thing that still doesn't sound as good through the PA as my Cort.

Cool thread. I'll take a Red Flamed M600 please!

I have a Cort Effector Strat copy (circa mid 1980's). It was my first electric and I played the sh!t out of it. The effects still work too! I've handed it down to my kiddo. I'm hoping he'll play it and enjoy it as much as I did.

Hey guys. I need help identifying a Cort. It is a black strat copy, with a HSS configuration.it has a 22 fret bolt on maple neck, rosewood fretboard with dot inlays..it has the 5 way switch, I think two volume 1 tone knob, and vintage style tremolo. What makes it unique is it comes with a killswitch on it. The only thing that makes it a Cort is the sticker on the back. There is no name on the headstock. It be much appreciated if I could get a model name and a general price for this. Thanks!
