Just looking for a recommendation. My budget is $250 max and I'm looking for a guitar at least as good as my Squier V.M. Tele Thinline. Either a Strat or Tele style guitar. It has to have a good sound right from the start, I can modify it later if there are a few bad parts like the bridge.

To give an idea of bands I play I like The B-52's first two albums (Great guitar sound) The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Joe Maphis, Merle Travis, The New Pornographers, Nirvana and XTC to name a few.

Sorry. All those bands used right handed guitars. You can't get that sound with a left handed guitar.

Haha.. sorry, kidding. Get a used Mexican Strat. It'll blow your Squier away. You can find a nice used one for $250.

I remember squier re-releasing the original (fender) Duo sonic,

It's very similar to the mustang (cobain) but the neck is small, and it won't necessarily capture the jangly sounds of the beatles, tho. Beatles are more like a rickenbacker sound, but a tele might be able to nail it... Not necessarily familiar with the rest, sorry

fender strat or maybe a tele would fit into the style that you play.

haha ohhh... lefty jokes never get boring to me. anyway i second the Made in Mexico Fenders. their quality is well above what a lot of people expect before they play them, and you can find cheap used ones.

That's what I thought I should look for, A MIM Fender. I'll just have to wait to get one for the right price. Thanks.
