I was wondering if sending a quality DI box into an FX pedal improves the sound, or is the presence of the FX pedal negating the need for one?

I was thinking specifically about distortion pedals or Tech 21's amp modelling pedals like the California or VT Bass which aren't DI boxes in any way themselves.

Many thanks!!!
It depends on the exact effect pedal you are using. If you are using a rackmount studio effects unit which is not designed for guitars, you should put a DI in front of it.

Apparently, Tubescreamers (and i assume most similar pedals) work as a DI because of the input buffer.

My other amp can run Crysis
Cheers for the quick reply! I suppose stuff like amp modellers are the same in that case
