Hello i'm looking for a good overdrive pedal for under $100. I have an Ibanez RG370DXGP3, Peavy Vypyr 30, Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, Boss BF-3 Flanger, and a Dunlop Crybaby wah.

Wait why do you need an overdrive if you have a Vypyr?

(i thought hot strings would make me finger faster.)
so i tried to set my strings on fire by putting a lighter on the high e string n it cut it so wtf??!!? i passed the lighter rrly slowly by it for less then a sec n then it snapped...

Well, in California, people carry around devices that control the minds of bears. So expect to see people walking their bears.

Also, don't be surprised if some robot hookers try to solicit sex to you on the streets.
Pedals into a modeling amp with built-in effects. Interesting. Vypyrs have a Tube Screamer effect, btw.
Yeah, use the inboard modeling effect.

But if you're hellbent to get a pedal on top of it, well, Bad Monkey perhaps, or an SD-1.

i know it sounds weird putting effects into the vyper but the effects arent the greatest and the ods and distortions are bad for my taste and music style so i hope that cleared things up
I don't know how the vypyr sounds boosted, but Bad Monkeys like Peavey Amps.

Try before you buy.

Hardwire Overdrive

The Digitech HardWire CM-2 Tube Overdrive is hands down the best OD for under $100.
Bad Monkey. It's cheap, which is good as you're throwing away money by running stomp boxes into a modeling amp.

Because I bend in such an unorthodox fashion; the notes kinda slide up and slide down...
I wouldn't suggest the bad monkey as a standalone overdrive, its kinda weak imo. The danelectro cool cat drive is a nice overdrive though for cheap.

here is the honest truth: there will be NO IMPROVEMENT in your sound by running OD pedals through your vypyr.

save for a new amp. until then, just live with what your vypyr and try to make the best out of it.

as cliche as it sounds, that's your best route.

1.i need to beable 2 turn it on and off 2. the overdrives arnt really great

They'd get worse with pedals. Too muddy 'n stuff.

Invest in a new amp. Blues Junior, etc.

Personally, I get much better tone with an SD-1 than with my Fender Super Champ's built-in effects. Much less muddy.

Boss SD-1

Plus yeah, being able to easily turn it on and off is necessary for some songs.

um, the TS-9 model is pretty much spot on. I own both. Just get the 100 dollar sanpera if you want to turn them off or on. And the effects are fine btw.

I run the pedals in my signature through my Vypyr, but the tone isn't that great. Its not horrible, but not what I want. You're better off getting a sanpera pedal to control the effects or switch to a tube amp. I do like the Boss SD-1 overdrive. I think I paid less than $40 for it.
