I want to leave, I can get a full refund for my Dad if I leave this week. I hate the course, it's boring and the thoughts of working like this forever is enough to make me depressed. I want to be happy but I don't want to be a waster
I don't want to disappoint my parents but I'm afraid I might have to. I hate it here that much. I will probably fail if I stay as I can't concentrate on anything I don't like and then I get nothing also I've to pass the second year to get anything out of this course and I don't see that happening

So pit your opinion's please?

If you don't like it then there's no point in doing it. Find something you like and change course, or take a gap year and start ona different course next year.

If you don't like what you're doing you won't do too well.

It's software development for those who are curious.
I did it because I thought it might be interesting. I was wrong

Programming isnt for everyone. Computer Science major here. I know what you have to deal with. You can do it if you want, but if you seriously aren't happy with the lifestyle of problem solving in that sort of environment you probably never will. Go find something you want to do like art or something.

They'd probably be more disappointed in you being unhappy. Be honest and talk to them about it instead of us, we don't know you.

Yeah I just want some extra opinions.
I'm going to talk to them later

Leave.

Get a trade.

Profit.

If you don't enjoy what you're studying you'll never get through it.

Once you are a legal adult, the possibility of disappointing your parents should have absolutely zero influence on important life decisions like going to college/not going to college. Work the rest out for yourself, but keep in mind the flipside of the fact I opened the post with is that once you are a legal adult you need to make your own direction and should not rely on your parents to do this.

Leave. Like everyone else has said, don't go getting a degree if you don't want the kind of carreer you'll be needing it for. My father's worked in a job that he hates for the past 25 years and he's absolutely miserable. Don't go down that path.

Switch courses?
Have you considered some courses are just boring at the beginning and you can specialise and enjoy it alot more later? I dunno quit if you plan on not trying and just failing, but have a plan on what you will do before you do...

Edumacation is for the stupid.

Why go school? Is a point to it?

It's always good to learn, however it's foolish to mock those who are trying to.

And i think you should try doing a different course at least. Don't drop out of college or education, there's so much it can offer you. If you drop out now you will probably regret it forever. Talk to your tutors about the course and ask about joining a different course, one that takes your fancy more. Please don't just give up.

Shut up!!
I never said I wouldn't come back.
It's just this specific course and I can't change so I'd have to wait till next year anyway

If you aren't enjoying it, you won't work as hard, and the money paid will be for nothing. Get the refund, apply for something else next year. At least in the gap year you can go work and make some money, and get a better idea of what it is you want to do. You may end up working somewhere in the meantime you really enjoy and be able to progress in, who knows? But don't throw further education out of the window just yet. How about vocational courses, or apprenticeships?

I'm currently in a computer science major, and I'm pretty much in the same situation as you, but less desperate I guess. I'm switching majors after this semester, so I've had a year of deciding whether it was for me, and it's not I've found. Change courses to something else you're interested in. It's what I'm doing, moving to biology and ecology.
I can take a road that'll see me through.

I plan to complete high school, and go on to study music at university, I was mocking those who think it's stupid to stay in school by appearing to be stupid/using incomplete sentences, etc. thus creating an appearance of an illiterate high-school dropout.

I did an IT course once. It was boring as ****. Sucks though because besides music thats the only thing i'm good at. No way I want to work in IT all of my life, i'd end up killing myself lol

Leave. Then go back for another course next year. If you don't like that either you can leave and come back again. Just find something you like doing.

Oh, and get a job meanwhile if you decide to leave.

Same here. I was an electrical engineering major, but have decided instead to do Management(Business if you will). Do whatever will help you out in the long run, not what satisfies you now.

Well it's not risky because you could always do university again next year, or the next. You can go whenever you want really.
But the real question is, are you just not giving it a chance? I would probably endure it, because I always do that and try to cut off the complaining. But eh, if you truly believe this major isn't for you then yeah. leave.

This.

Get the money back, speak with your parents and explain to them that you're really not happy doing that course.
If they want what's best for you (which i think is the main desire for most parents) then they'll understand.
They may be a little disappointed, but at the end of the day, i'm sure they'd much rather see you happy.
Take some time to figure out what it is you want to do. If you need money in the meanwhile, try to find some temp work.
You'll work it out. Good Luck.

well, you would only make a thread like this if you were actually going to leave, so do whatever you want, just consider what might happen if you do/don't stay.

if you do stay you could get a better job, meet new people, have fun, etc

If you leave you'll be left with thoughts of "what might have happened" and possible regrets about a lot of things for the rest of your life.

your choice

Follow the dream man. You'll disappoint your parents, but they'll get over it because they love you.

Hell, if you hate the course, you'll never succeed in it. get your refund this year, work for a year, or travel, get some perspective. Then go back .
