Hey, does anyone have any experience using an EQ pedal on an amp without an FX loop? Does it make much difference to the tone compared to if it was in the loop?

I found that in front of the amp it had far more of a effect level/gain-wise but in the loop was far more transparent.

I actually prefer mine in front of the amp by far.

It still makes a difference. I used to use my MXR 10-band in front of my V18 because it didn't have a loop...and I still use it in front of my rig now. I use it mainly as a boost though.

It makes some difference, but not all that much. Place it in front and it'll EQ the signal and the output level can increase/decrease the gain because it affects the preamp. If you place it in a loop it will EQ the signal from there and it can increase the volume as you change the output level because it now affects the power tube input.
