everything i improv sounds the same! help! I know all the scales and techniques and stuff, it's more of a creative thing i'm stuck in.

Try forcing yourself to play in different positions. For example, if you're playing a song in A, don't let yourself play in the fifth position.

That's because you aren't improvising. You are just playing patterns and licks you know. Try putting your guitar down, and use your voice instead. When you've become comfortable doing this, you can start improvising. The thing is you don't want you fingers to dictate your music. It comes from your head and body.
