Hi UG!
I'm looking for a 50w Mesa Amp. I can get a F-50 combo or a Single Rec head with cab for about the same price here in Canada. I'm not too sure what I should take between those two so... I'm asking for your opinion folks!

It'll be my only amp, so it has to be quite good in just about everything. Every kind of metal and some clean/jazzy sounds from time to time.

Thanks!

Single Rec. all the way.
Not an F series fan. Decent mild sounding rock tones, but thats about it.

I personally love my F-50, but I own the head. They're both great amps, but they're pretty different animals, you need to try them both out I think.

- Gibson Flying V 120 #2 (Cherry)
- Gibson SG Standard ('61 style)
- Jackson DK2M

- ENGL Fireball 60

- Many pedals, plus other stuff

I've not played a Single Recto yet that I enjoyed the tone of. The F-50s are awesome amps

However, if you're getting a Single Recto and the matching cab for the same price as an F-50... that is clearly the better deal.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
