So is there anything you think they should teach us in school but don't?

Personally, I think everyone should have to learn Politics. I mean, how can anyone make the most of their vote if they don't know what's going on?

Yeah definitely. I'd love to see more people understanding their government and voting. It would make things a lot fairer.

I think EVERYONE should be taught evolution. I went to a christian school and I wasn't

I had compulsary RE but this is a good thing IMO. Learning about Islam in school stops little thugs turning into racists a few years after they graduate.

It worked on me.

Ignorance breeds hate and all that. Learning about it can only be a good thing.

I'm glad it worked on you

All I meant was every 18 year old that votes for the BNP in this country had the same education

Didn't work for them.

They didn't have the same education though. RE is compulsory in some schools, in others it isn't. I did small segments of RE from years 7 to 9 at my comprehensive school and I remember approximately none of it.
The DNA results show that Jeremy Kyle is a nob.

Oh I see. Well I guess political persuasion is more powerful, or they didn't learn about it in their school/pay attention properly.

Most kids drop religious studies as soon as it's non-compulsory. I went to a christian school so it was compulsory for everyone, but my teachers were pretty objective about other religions.

Maybe we should stick old Nick Griffin in those classes

I'm with you on that. R.E is important. It's amazing how many people can hate a culture they know nothing about.

Same goes for me, Wilders(you probably know him, your country wouldn't let him in. Hell, I wouldn't let him in either) his fanbase is build up out of xenophobic and ignorant people, but even some fellow students of mine are thinking about voting for him. Educate all you want, some people are ignorant by heart.

Religion=ethnicity? (I know it does with the Jews, but they don't count)
That statement in itself is somewhat racist, as it is assuming that all followers of Islam have to be of certain descent.
Making them more tolerant is a better term, even if it is just a stupid euphemism. Anyone spouting the word "tolerance" like a Jehovah deserves to get popped in the face.
I'm serious about this.
Tolerant should not equal respectful.

On the topic of politics. The people cannot be taught, they can only learn. The name of the game is manipulation and getting what you want for personal gain. Why can't people understand that? If you want **** to go your way, get in the fray and do something about it (run for some form of political office, activist campaign, petitions, etc).
No one is gunna hand it to you.

That just isn't fair. The fact is, the people asking us to vote are not giving our children the Information needed to vote.

I just think there is somthing dishonest about that.

They should teach you that you should always wear a condom no matter what.

Yes, even if you're trying to have children.

That way, only the people who try really hard and are really deserving will ever have kids ever.

They shouldn't teach Religious Education per se, but rather Cultural Education, focusing on the entire culture rather than just the religious aspects (sometimes the culture is more important).

And they should also probably teach about modern politics INSTEAD of pointless history. Seriously, history for years 3-6, then start grooming the kids to be able to make informed decisions at the polls.

Ibanez, (what the hell is your name, I never like calling you by your username), pretty sure every school from Weston had RE as compulsary. Mine was the only school where the full GCSE was compulsory, the rest did half a GCSE. Dunno why, I got an A* no problem.

Politics definitely needs to be taught but there must be set up so it's as independent as possible. I'm also leaning towards making kids learn critical thinking and some Philosophy.
