Ok i didnt really know what category this fell under so I just put it here.My "co-guitarist" and I are working on an acoustic set list.We plan to practice our asses off until christmas then were going to start working gigs.Weve got some stuff but we need more and the job fell to me to come up with more songs.I was hoping someone could help with ideas.

So far we have:

1.Santa Monica-Theory of a deadman

2.Drift and Die-Puddle of Mudd

3.Touch, Peel and stand-Days of the New

4.Rest Stop-Matchbox Twenty

5.Already Gone-Crossfade

Thanks any help is much appreciated.

Folk? Bob Dylan of course.
And maybe some Pink Floyd
And some blues, like Clapton etc

We may or may not do wish you were here.I love it but were kinda tired of it.We used to play it all the time.

What audience are you going for. If this is going to be pub / bar gigs where you are expecting to get paid, you should probably at least include a few songs that your average punter will have heard of! If you have more specialist venues / genre nights in mind then go for it with the obscure (to most people!) stuff on your list...

More mainstream stuff we've found goes well when we do pubs in particular -

Gravity - John Mayer
Add me - Chumbawumba
Don't like Mondays - Boomtown Rats (rocked up on acoustics sounds really good)
Loads of Beatles and Elvis stuff goes down well, mostly because everyone knows it
Oasis - Half a World Away

But most stuff with a memorable hook or chorus tends to go down well...

Cheers

Might be two of the worst songs to play acoustic. The first song is maybe the worst piece of music I've ever heard.

any Bob Dylan
Metallica - Fade To Black
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

Acoustic cover singer songwriters are a dime a dozen.

Get working on some original material

Or alternatively, use songs that people are likely to know...so you'll get more gigs

But. . . Ts will get neck high in pussy, should they play it half-way recognizably and there are any females listening.

write original songs
If I stay too quiet
I can hear her walking by
Death cold air is moving
Like the touch of her hand

ikuisesti hallussa surua,
pienentynyt enkeli, ottaa minuun,
johtaa minut tämän arvokkaan valoa,
ja ikuiseen pimeyteen.

Write your own songs. Limit to maybe one cover.
