I did it, I finally did it!!!

New Guitar Day!!!

OMG, I love it! I finally found a guitar that fits my specs, plays good, feels good, sounds good, etc. Its all stock, and I didnt have to modify anything on it. Except maybe the setup, and even then not very much.

Anyway, the guitar I bought was the LAguna LE422. Thats right, a Laguna, can you believe it? I never thought I'd buy one. I went to GC one day to grab a new set of strings, saw it and said, 'ah, what the hell, I'll try it, worst case scenario is I wont like it, much like any other guitar out there.'

So, I played it and what da ya know? I actually liked the damn thing. So, I started researching it and read reviews, etc. I played it every time I went there after that, and after 3 or 4 months, I bought. They only had the display model wwhich was scratched and the control knobs were kinda loose. So I ordered one, and about a week later, it came. I went to the store to pick it up, looked it over, plugged in, made sure the pickups worked, no wierd problems with humming (even though it's single coils), the knobs worked good, the pots werent loose, everything checked out. So I paid and took it home. I played for 6 hours straight, which is about 3 times longer than I normally play. I only play about 2 hours a day, but am working up to 4 or 5 hours.

Anyway, I love the thing. It plays like a dream, well okay its thinner than I'm used to, but in time it'll grow on me. Each time I pick it up, it feels even more comfortable than the last time. Same with the sound. I am running it through my original Ampeg Gemini from 1968, which my dad gave me. The guitar is swamp ash with maple top (veneer), which gives it a scooped sound with a hint of twang, so I EQ'd the amp for a mid-boost, the sound is amazing, especially with tube driven reverb and tremolo. The lows are punchy, but not over-bearing, the mids are immaculately subtle, and the highs are clear and crisp. I love it. It sounds very similar to the overall tonality of the Bowie song, "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)". Of course I change the knobs on the amp depending on what styles I feel like playing. I know its probably the amp making it sound good, but the Laguna sounds waaayy better than my Casino.

I think for my next guitar, I'll get a swamp ash tele. I really think Swamp Ash is the wood for me. Wow, that sounded really suggestive. LOL

Anyway, I love it. I have actually had it about 3 weeks now, I would have posted sooner, but I wanted to make sure everything worked on it, and I was too busy playing it to write a review (will post that in few days), or NGD (which I am posting now).

Sorry, no pics, clips, or anything like that. I'm kinda paranoid you see, so I never post anything like that online, anywhere.

But yeah, its the best guitar I've ever bought.

Because of this I'm tempted to report this as spam, please at least post pics, as that is the only reason people click on these types of threads.

NGDs without pictures are useless. Stop being paranoid, how the hell are people going to know where you live by taking pictures of the inside of your house?

Either way, HNAD! I see these all the time at GC but have never tried one because they just look cheap, maybe I'll actually stop and play one this time

neptune - I'm happy for you and your new guitar. Yes we like our guitar and gear pr0n and yes this should normally go in Electric Guitar forum.

If you are that paranoid then take some pictures of your guitar against a neutral background like white sheet or your carpet. Then upload your pictures to photobucket after you create an account. Set the photo default size to 800x600. You can set your account/folders to PRIVATE. Then find the (Invalid img) tag underneath each photo. Copy that and paste it in here.

It is very safe. Trust me. You can also upload pictures directly from your PC if they are under 500 pixels and 50k. Also very safe.

Have fun with your new guitar

Its really a pointless waste of time if you're gonna make a N*D thread if you refuse to post pictures or at the very least clips.

I thought there was a discussion which concluded that N*D threads without photos are to be reported as spam?

Dude, you either:
1. Post pictures of the new guitar
2. Don't create a N*D thread, because I'm inclined to think you've not received the guitar and had to create some excitement by posting a NGD thread, before you're received the guitar.

The whole excitement of N*D threads is for everyone to know and share in your new acquisition, not google the interwebz for a stock image.

A low res picture of a guitar in someone's home is more exciting that a high res stock guitar pic with a white background.
