Terrible name, legend-quality band.

These Swedes formed in 1976. Their first offer, Full Speed at High Level is a tribute to heavier rock 'n' roll. While the album doesn't exactly approach great, and while it doesn't get close to their next two full length offerings, it's a great "feel good" rocker.

1981 marked a drastic change for the band. The NWOBHM was just getting rolling and the band adopted the style. Their 1981 EP Metal Conquest showcases a heavier and more developed band. It's also one of the first examples of true power metal that I've come across.

The band further developed their sound with their next two real offerings, Death Or Glory and Stronger Than Evil. With each release the band one upped themselves. Their last two releases are very reminiscent of the legendary Satan (UK). They developed their own heavy/power hybrid and made somewhat of a "cult legend" status for themselves before disappearing away into the abyss. One of my favorites.

Full Speed at High Level

Heavy Metal Heaven

Heavy Metal Angels (In Metal and Leather)

Run With the Devil

A song from each major release to properly showcase the band's development. Heavy Metal Angels is my personal favorite.

Screw that. Best name imo.

This band is purely great, i'm starting to understand the glory of heavy metal. I liked it, but never this much

Not a fan of the band, but their lyrics are epic.

Thor is riding the sky again
Hear the thunder feel the pain
When we hear the heathen cry
We draw our swords
And the Christians will die,
Feel the pain, feel the pain
Tonight
The pope in his blood will crawl
Jesus' head is going to roll
The Christian warriors raped the earth
And I've been crying since my birth
Feel the pain, feel the pain
Valhalla I think I am coming
I think I am coming back to you
We're coming from the land
Of the midnight sun
Blue eyes blond hair you'd better run
The wind is whispering tales of gone
Of how we fought, and how we won
Feel the pain
The northern light is printed in my soul
I don't think that I will die old
The nature has given me my strength
Sweet is the Viking's revenge
Feel the pain
Valhalla I think I am coming

Was listening to em the other day, really good stuff.
Uncle Vernon, Uncle Vernon,
independent as a hog on ice,
He's a big shot down there at the slaughterhouse,
Plays accordion for Mr. Weiss

HamburgerBoy I am dissapoint. @Wretched, the song he posted is Son Of The Northern Light. This band really reminds me of Legend (US), both in theme and sound, as well as feel.

Heathens from the North is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard.

Listening to Heathens now, then I'll listen to SotNL

I remember checking a TV guide a while back and thinking "A documentary about Heavy Load? Awesome, gotta check it out"

Then it turns out that it was a bunch of mentally handicapped people playing horrible "punk"
