YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY

Don’t blame the Devil
God created Eve
And they say she always
Has a trick up her sleeve
But still I go to her
And they can go to Hell
How can she hurt me?
She’s busy killing herself
A trick up her sleeve?
That’s complete bull****
The only thing it’s hiding
Are the slits on her wrists

Well, you know what they say
So please tell me what it is
Sorry, listening to my heart
So I couldn’t hear them

No I can’t let you
Hurt yourself again
I’ll burn all your bridges
So you can’t jump off them
But you could tell me “Jump”
And I’ll make it to Heaven
And make the angels bow down
Whenever you’re mentioned
But for now I’m the serpent
Just dragging along
Your Garden of Eden
Whispering, “You could be God”

Well, you know what they say
So please tell me what it is
Sorry, listening to my heart
So I couldn’t hear them

If they say love is blind
Why do I see so clear
What needs to be done
Whenever you’re near
So put away your pills
And untie your noose
Baby, don’t you know
I live to die for you

nice to read you sir.

I liked how this started, however, afterwards it felt like you were just complaining too much. And the solution offered at the end just left me feeling rather creeped out rather than satisfied.
Promises meant a lot back then.
