so i have a 6262 combo (or will have a functional one when they replace my faulty one)

but i was looking at getting a blackheart head, cos they are efffin cheap and sound pretty good, plus the 6262 is probably too loud for late night playing in my house.

can i plug the head into the speakers of the combo but not run the 6262 head? is it just a matter of plugging the speaker cable from the combo that goes up to the head section of the combo into the blackheart?

sorry real noob question.

Yes you can.

Just check the impedance rating of your speaker before you plug it into the head.

Of course also check that the speaker cable is long enough to reach the output jacks from the head. Combos have notoriously short speaker cables.

You can always get a female to male extension cable and fix that problem.

Yeah he could, subject to availability.

I couldn't find one here in Singapore when I needed it... so its more of a "just in case you have to live with what you have" comment.

the back of the little giant has plugs for 2X4 ohm, 2X8ohm, and 1X16ohm, the back of the 6262 has a switch to select either 3 of those modes...

The correct way about it is...

Does the speaker/cab show the impedance it will accept.

Typically a head will have multiple output impedances. However, speakers are usually constructed to accept 1 impedance setting.

You answered your own question.

The head he is buying has multiple outputs. 4, 8, and 16 ohm. So yes it will work with whatever impedance his speakers are.

Actually my response is to this post...

Haha it suggest that the load comes from the speakers.

will the head show what impedance it can take from the speakers?

But yeah, it will pose no problem.

The load does come from the speakers.

Sorry, let me rephrase that... the speakers present a load for the amp.

Apologies... have not been feeling very well this morning.
