I saw a listing on craigslist for a 62 american reissue stratocaster. Only thing is, he says it has a maple fretboard. Have any of the 62 reissues have maple fretboards? this baffles me.

I really don't think any do, unless there as a custom shop one. Those strats are pretty solidly rosewood.

I'd check the dating section on fender.com and possibly send them an email but I agree, I think they only used rosewood at that time. Can't remember exactly when they introduced maple fretboards.

I take it you have a serial number?

Validate that number goes with the body if you can.

I've never seen or heard of a 62 am RI with maple, but looking around doesn't provide any proof they don't exist.

It is C-list, after all, maybe they meant maple neck?
