I like stuff like this.

Robert Plant was 19 when he first kissed a girl.

Axl Rose is an anagram of Oral Sex.

The playing time for Stairway To Heaven is longer than it took Plant & Page to write it. It was supposed to be a filler song.

The beginning of YYZ is Neil Peart playing YYZ in Morse Code on a cymbal.

In the music video of Aeromith/Run DMC's version of Walk This Way, the only actual band members are Steve Tyler and Joe Perry. Plus, the only one in Run DMC who actually liked "Walk This Way" was Jam Master Jay. The others hated it.

Duff McKagan's first(and only) time meeting Kurt Cobain was the day Kurt died.

Post yours.

Even just the logistics of that make it complete bullshit.

hmm i thought Led Zeppelin stole the main melody for Stairway to Heaven from a band they heard playing when they were young

and Duff met Kurt on an airplane.
Because Kurt had enough of everything and wanted to go somewhere and he got on a plane and sat next to Duff, they talked for a bit but Duff was so high he said, he can't remember what they discussed. I saw this in an interview with Duff about Kurt

I found a huge page of Nirvana trivia and such before.

Like, Nirvana were a Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band at one point, and Kurt supposedly signed his suicide note to his childhood imaginary friend, whom his parents told him went away with his uncle to war, so he'd stop playing with him.

EDIT: Found them:

If you scroll down, theirs like, 50 facts about Nirvana.

Tony Iommi detuned his guitar from E to C# (3 half-steps down), in order to ease the tension on his fingers. As a result, Sabbath were among the first bands to detune and resulted in the technique being a mainstay of heavy metal music. haha i find this amazing straight from wiki
down tuned to reduce string tension = heavy metal riff

Supposedly they pinned the lyrics and most of the melody one night while sitting in front of the fireplace at a castle in England (or maybe it was Scottland).

Major joke

The term "pre-Saracenian" is usually used to refer to the peoples and cultures of the Americas before the arrival of Saraceno and his European successors.

Tony Iommi got his fingertips chopped off on his last day at work at the sheet metal factory before becoming a pro musician.
I also heard he was feeling sick that day and was considering staying at home, but someone told him to go. Don't remember who.

Every time Bono claps his hands, a child dies of AIDS.

Randy Rhoads used to collect model trains.

Zakk Wylde started playing guitar aged 15 and joined Ozzy's band aged 19.

Frank Zappa and Randy Rhoads both hated beer.

Eric Clapton wrote the song "Layla" to try and steal George Harrison's girlfriend at the time, who I think was Pattie Boyd

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt gets his name from band rehearsals at school. He couldn't bring his bass to school, so when Billie Joe brought his guitar, Mike would mimic the bass by saying "Dirnt dirnt dirnt"

According to Plant, most of the lyrics were written in one night at Headley Grange. So it is very possible that Stairway to Heaven might have a run time longer than it took Plant to write the lyrics.

"My hand was writing out the words, 'There's a lady is sure [sic], all that glitters is gold, and she's buying a stairway to heaven'. I just sat there and looked at them and almost leapt out of my seat." Plant's own explanation of the lyrics was that it "was some cynical aside about a woman getting everything she wanted all the time without giving back any thought or consideration. The first line begins with that cynical sweep of the hand ... and it softened up after that."[11]

Maybe so, but the actual song took over a year. There's more to a song than just the lyrics

Yes, but I'm sure Plan was just talking about the lyrics.

If you read the line from the original post it says the "song"

True, but common sense tells me that nobody could write a song like that in that short amount of time. Either he means lyrics or he's lying.

huh?

no i was saying that the song took over a year, and colin617 showed the quote of Planty saying the lyrics were written on the spot, so we established that the lyrics were written quicker than the song runs (unless hes lying), not the writing of the song, which is what was said in the original post.

Understand?

My bad. I thought we were disagreeing that he wrote the lyrics quickly.
