I'm thinking about changing my bass strings for the first time and I want to try flatwounds. If I don't like them is it possible to put my old ones back on, or are they no good after I take them off?
I believe so. I've heard of people boiling their strings, so they must be.
of course they'll work but they might not sound the best
Way to clean strings there is also a section in the FAQ dealing with this
It can be tough to get them back on sometimes due to the windings that are in place at the top or each string after sitting on the post. Also, be careful when tuning them back up. I tried to put a string back on once and it snapped.
I wouldnt necessarily recommend it, but it wont do any damage to the bass and it wouldnt sound THAT bad
