Where it says you slide back lower the neck, how far do you slide, or doesn't it matter?

If you mean the slide at the end of the first bar, I'd go for 'as far back as you can go and still hit the first note of the next bar on time".

it's just a quick slide down the neck to get that "Stevie Ray effect." I really can't think of anyone who does it a whole lot at the moment. Listen to the song that tab comes from and try to hear what they're doing and match that.

TThe standard practice is to write extra letters or symbols between notes
to indicate how to play them. Here are the letters/symbols most
often used :

h - hammer on
p - pull off
b - bend string up
r - release bend
/ - slide up
\ - slide down
v - vibrato (sometimes written as ~)
t - right hand tap
x - play 'note' with heavy damping

This.
