Ok. I'm going to try and pick it up tomorrow, but I was really curious what the body wood is. what pickups are in it(stock) that sort of thing. I can't find information anywhere. i went through 10 pages of google..tried wikipedia. many users on other forums mentioned that there's nothing on the fender website so i didn't waste my time.

Anybody know a site that would have specs on discontinued fender basses? mine is the MIA version btw. dunno if it gets different specs than the mij but i know it's rarer from what information i have managed to find.

Everything i know so far:
3 pickups one volume and one tone knob with a center spot.
MIA
HM stands for Heartfield Model
5way pickup selector switch.
dean edge one 5 string
Schecter studio-4
Samick fairlane-6
Ibanez sb900
Ibanez btb775
Fender p bass special deluxe

Dean Del Sol
Ibanez prestige rg2610

my book, The Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide 2009 says this:
Basses-
Fender-
HM Bass
1989 - 1991 japanese made, 4 strings (IV) or 5 strings (V). basswood body,
no 'guard, 3 Jazz Bass p-ups, 5-way switch, master volume, master TBX, sunburst.
4- string (IV) $350 - $425
5- string (V) $375 - $450
prices are for excellent condition. it has no listing for an MIA model.
hope that helps. try looking up the serial number at www.fender.com/support
that will tell you for sure it's origins. good luck.

good luck.

Thanks. looks like it was overpriced anyway...Turns out i misremembered and it was $530 and pretty beat up. i went and played it again today with the intention of picking it up, but i just didn't feel the love like last time. I know the setup was horrible and the strings were dead, but what was there before just wasn't there now. Guess it was just the novelty of a fender with 3 pickups and a 5 way switch that won me over before. I'm happy i didn't have the money on me at the time I went now. Ended up buying 7 guitar stands(since i have 6basses 2 guitars and only 1 stand>.< and a new cable instead. thx for the info though. Couldn't find anything anywhere online.
