Hey guys. I don't really know how to play this shape:

e|------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------14--15--14----------------------|
G|---------14------------------14------------------|
D|----12--------------------------12-------------|
A|------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------|

I'm using index, ring and pinky and in order to hit the 15 I could slide the pinky but it doesn't look right to me, so I was playing the D note on the high E string. It looks like this

e|----------------------10--------------------------|
B|---------------14--------14-------------------|
G|---------14------------------14------------------|
D|----12---------------------------12-------------|
A|------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------|

and noticed that it is also a little bit of a stretch, specially if you play it on the lower frets.

I'd love to hear some suggestions about how you play this shape. Each of the ways I've come up with are strange for my hand, but I think it'd be fine with practice, I was just curious about how you play it. Thanks

right i am no expert at sweep picking but sort of know the technique

for the first one you use your index finger for the 12th fret and maybe barre the G and B with ur ring finger (hard to explain) and sort of roll ur finger to mute the strings so they dont ring and hit the 15th with ur pinky?

probably no help but i thought id try

hammer on the 15 instead of playing the next string. Or you can pull off from the 15 to the 14. I think the way you're playing it is harder.

EDIT: oh yeah fingering. index on 12, middle on 14, ring on next 14, pinky on 15? Or you can roll off your middle of ring finger from the 14 to the next 14. I don't know. Some people don't like to use their pinkies. You decide.

for me i would use my index for the 12, bar the 14's with my middle finger, and use ring finger for the fifteen.

Yeah I was missing the rolling. I think the best is really pulling off with the pinky on the 15.
Thanks guys

index, roll the 14th fret with your ring and hammer the 15th with your pinky.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

99% sure thats not sweeped, a lot of tabs are just thrown together with the right notes but
not the right fingering, here are a few easier ways to play it

e|------------------------------------------------|
B|----------10---14--15--14--10--------------|
G|-------------------------------------------------|
D|----12------------------------------12---------|
A|-------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------|

e|-----------------9----10-9------------------------|
B|---------10-------------------10------------|
G|-----7------------------------------7---------|
D|----------------------------------------------|
A|------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------------------------------------|

Always take a look at something and think how could I make this easier for myself,
figure out a few fingerings and play what ever you feel the most comfortable with

Personally, i would either play it index, ring (then roll) ring and then pinky.

Or, index, then jump with the index to the 14, play 15 with middle. This will be hard with sweep picking, so i'd do it the first way.
