what's your budget and what types of music do you play? for home use or gigs or both?
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

that's a pretty wide range of stuff... with that budget, unless you get really lucky second-hand, you're probably going to be stuck with either a modeller, or one of the cheaper, versatile valve amps (e.g. peavey valveking). up to you, really.

I'd look at that vypyr a little closer.

SuperChamp is cool, but I would still rather have a Vypyr 60. If you can't get the Vypyr 60 for some reason, get the SuperChamp.

Whoever voted for the Vox over the Vypyr makes me cry.

if thats legit, he's a total douche

Actually, your post isn't that much better. The Spider Valve is miles ahead of the Spider III imo. I don't love the Spider Valve but I don't hate it either.

It's not that bad

spider valve

I got rid of the rest of the comment, because it's stupid.

But, good recommendation, it's funny how many people here just hop on the bandwagon, and say "Zomgz spIderzzz are teh suckehh!"

If you want versatility, try out the Spider Valve or the Peavey Vypyr 60 tube. But definitely try them first, it's a Love/like/hate thing.
Wait.

Agreed. I've played both...loved the Spider Valve one time...hated it the next. I guess it might be different if I actually owned one though

yeah the 60w is tube. The 75 and 100 are SS.
#27
They are all modeling amps.

The 60 and 120 have an actual tube power section vs solid state power section and therefore I feel, and some agree, that the tones are more life-like and more true to the original amp models it is modeling. The effects sound better too imo. The overall harmonics and such just sound better than it's 75 and 100 watt solid state cousins.

The 60w 112 combo is the one I recommend for you at $450.

Not to mention they have a preamp tube which is supposedly used for pre amp distortion.

Why do people keep voting VT50? IMO, they are nothing in comparison to Vypyr tube(can anyone sense the GAS leaking from my words?).
