I'm reserving any anger or surprise to this for something undoubtedly wackier in the future, but I'd figure it'd be good for a laugh or discussion.

So laugh or discuss.

That's about the same with me. I lifted this off another forum and virtually everyone there thought the guy deserved death anyway, so it didn't matter the decision was made with the aid of religious texts in a secular court. Baffling.

It should be thrown out and another trial conducted.

The jurors' decisions should be based upon logic and reasoning, not what the Bible says to do.

I sort of agree with this in that the guy probably is as close to deserving the death sentence as any other murderer anyways, however, separation of church and state should ban the consorting of religious texts in the secular court. because we all know they would be outraged if someone sentenced someone to death based on the Qur'an

Absolutely. Poor poor, murdering, burglaring victim.

Guys, I hate religion too, and I think that using the bible was an incredibly retarded way to legally deal with the murderer, but were he in a different court of law there's a good chance he would have both gotten/imo deserved death sentence anyway.

I suggest we switch from bashing religion to bashing Texas and its courts.

It has nothing to do with the person at hand. Don't be naive. One person changes nothing, it's the method of which it is decided that changes everything.

And I edited it because I phrased it badly, and I realized it.

EDIT: And the fact that you support murder for murder makes your opinion rather moot to begin with. One can not ethically punish a person for committing a crime, using the very crime they committed. It's not rational, nor is it moral.

That was probably in the book of Leviticus, which explained all the -JEWISH- laws. Christian's need not follow the Jewish laws, hence how we can eat food that isn't kosher.
