Just like the thread title says. What are some great songs that aren't really about anything at all?

My example is Shoots and Ladders by Korn. I mean, you could argue that it's about being scarred as a child, or something of that nature, but in my opinion, I think they just had a cool idea and went with it. Same with their song Twist.

P.S: No, I'm not a Korn fan, but I do like a couple of their songs.

Hello Time Bomb by Matthew Good Band. Matt Good has said himself the song is about nothing, he tried to write a song about nothing.

Seems to me like a lot of Nirvana's songs aren't about anything in particular.

I mean, really, how do explain those lyrics?

The Mars Volta.

For the vast majority of their songs, I'm just sitting there, both rocking out and wondering what the shit is up with Cedric.

I think I read somewhere that Kurt said that he usually wrote the melody and such first, than wrote lyrics to fit in with it.

EDIT:

Was just gonna say that. Although, I pretty much dislike everything Nirvana has ever done musically.

Meh, I hate Nirvana fans when they try to pass off crap lyrics as something hidden and deep...it's random shit he threw down when he was stoned off his rocker from heroin.

As for awesome songs...I can't really think of anything aside from some of SYL's lyrics are a little misplaced and they have some awesome choruses and songs in general...but lyrically, something isn't right.

EDIT: Fine then...be that way E_squared

Most of nirvanas songs were about something, but kurt never really liked being blatant about it. So he would write like 2 or 3 serious lines, and then make fun of them or try to disguise them.

Good lord yes. First Frank Zappa song I heard was "Electric Aunt Jemima" and I was just like:

Also, I would put "Sugar" by System of a Down up there. Sounds cool, but I can't find a solid explanation for ALL of the lyrics.
