Admit it.

Without the internet we'd be doing things completely different. Knowledge would still be available in book form instead of simply googling it, music would be reduced to some other wacky way of distribution, and I would be going to the doctor and paying them (since I have no insurance atm) for consultation on why I had white blotches on my neck. I googled "white blotches on my neck" a week ago and found an easy simple solution on how to get rid of it instead of seeing a doctor.

I usually think how backwards things would be without the internet. Curious about something? Google it. Need help or want to learn how to play guitar? Go to UG. Need to finish up some simple courses at your UNI since your schedule is too busy? Sign up for an internet course.

So UG. tl;dr How different would things be for you?

I really don't know how different it would be for me. It's like our culture and race eventually would need something that has amassed so much data in order for others to gain knowledge.

Or go to video shops like some creepy pornmonger in a brown overcoat with cum stains all over the coat. It'd be terrible!

Well, I wouldn't be in this thread.

Seriously though, I can't really imagine it. I use it so much as an information resource these days I've forgotten how to use books properly.

Not living in the same city as Kjell makes you unaware of his personal life...
He's already that guy.

Or if you want to see porn in the theatres? It's awkward as hell.

I think I'll stick to putting ads in the newspapers looking for "experienced midgets not afraid of body fluids wanted for avant garde porn."

Hmm, the impact internet has on our lives becomes clearest in the working place and at uni.
sure, internet is great for porn, music, etc., but the REAL impact is for instance at universities, where nearly EVERYTHING is done over internet. it's insane.

Want to sign up for a course? do it online.
oh yeah, we don't have those lists anymore. do it online.
DO IT ONLINE is pretty much the motto of most universities nowadays.

Heck, I could even follow the lecture I'm missing now online if I wanted to (hell no).
other than that, I wouldn't be half the guitarist I am today, I would have no platform to share my music, and I would have never learned how to make (somewhat) decent recordings.

also I would have much fewer lulz and would spend more time and money on Nintendo games.

I would sitting alone, playing guitar.
??? Fund: cba to keep up with it.
will at least try when I get a jerb

Without the internet, I wouldn't have met my boyfriend and best friend Nick Dixon.
And I met him here on UG too

There's no way we would have met otherwise, being in different hemispheres.

Things would be very different for me to, I google so many things haha. It's seriously taught me more valuable things than school did. Minus maybe reading/writing/simpler math that's actually useful in normal life.

I would have to work to get research done. Communication would be harder. The only thing to look at would be what is on TV.

I would have to resort to meaningful dialogue with real people. Mmm, scary thought.

For one i would a lot fitter.

But in terms of society we would just generally be dumber and less-educated (the younger generation at least). Some people find that certain advancements in technology has changed human nature negatively, i believe that the internet is exempt from this. Scrolling Wikipedia and the pit alone has taught me so much crap on many subjects.

And btw Kjell, i want my coat back.

You don't have to wash it

I'd probably be bad ass mother****er. I would have more of a social life, more of my time would be dedicated to guitar.

Wow, now I wish we didn't have internet.

Nope

I have no idea, i'd probably have had to phone someone for every MSN conversation i've ever had. So communication would be harder, learning guitar would have been much harder, and i'd have far less entertainment. I'd probably be a very different person.

There's probably a ton of music I wouldn't know about. That's, like, the least of it though. It would just all-around suck!
