Where would you say was the best place to live in the UK, considering weather, transport, music scene, cost of living and decent paying jobs? Im in Edinburgh at the moment and its expensive, music scene is really crap, transport is not great and jobs have never been that well paid. Not expecting great weather if i moved to England but something better than here (we had about 5 days of sun this summer).

Somewhere in the home counties?

Bristol and Manchester are good too, methinks.

What is the home counties?

I thought Manchester and Bristol were both quite violent?

weather? down south
Music? Big city (London, Glasgow, Manchester)
Transport? Shit in every city.
Cost of living? Big cities again
Decent paying jobs? em... that's just luck of the draw. Again, more likely with big cities.

pretty much. the transport is a bit better with london with the tube.

decent paying jobs tend to be in the big cities, but then the cost of living is higher too so it can even out, maybe even make you worse off.

best weather is going to be the south east.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Dublin's a pretty nice place to live

I hate to shit on your parade but Dublin ISN'T in the UK, and the thread title is 'Best Place to Live in UK'.

I live in the south east about 20-30 minutes out from Brighton, which comes quite high up my list of great places. Plus its only an hour and a half to Portsmouth from here, and a little more for Southampton which at the moment is my favourite place on our touring schedules. Although Torquay is also always good, but I get the feeling everyone in Devon is a bit backward. The only problem with the south, especially around the London area, is the amount of people that just don't get each other. And the stabbings.

Manchester FTW... Great music scene, great musical history, great clubs, gets all the big and not so big gigs, great road access (trust me, the M62 / M60 >>> M25), great people, shit weather, biggest / best selction of shops outside London, bargain house prices etc... Can you guess where my next move will be??

probably quite hard, you could live there - you'd just find it difficult to get a job

I'm enjoying living in Sheffield atm. Apparently Manchester's meant to be awesome, but it always rains and is on the wrong side of the Pennines.
