Anyone else take one of these classes at a college?
I got some ****ed up people in my class.
An obese woman who writes horror errotica.
A hot girl who wrote a story about an abusive father who ends up killing his daughter.
Others wrote about suicide, war, zombies, etc....

I wrote a story about the struggle of a young man in New York City. Kind of took stuff from what I knew about living in New York City and the Culture surrounding it and rolled with it.
Most of the important things

by people who have kept on

trying when there seemed to be no hope at all

I wish I had a creative writing class... Hell I just wish my English teacher wouldn't call me a Socialist because I've read 1984 a dozen time and don't see the need to pay attention to her explaining it in class.

Sounds like a pretty awesome class. I've written some weird stuff before but never anything very good. Here's a few paragraphs of a short story I started on....

I awoke to the darkness of the jungle closing around me. Mosquitoes and gnats swarmed my face and arms with gentle annoyance and rhythm, as if dancing to the chirp of their insect companions. Even in the night the jungle bustled with life; the ruckus of animals moving about in the trees and bush pushed me to contemplate the means by which I had fallen to slumber in the first place.
Nevertheless, I knew I was only a short distance from the campsite. If I could find my light and rifle then I could locate the path, which would lead me within sight of it. I groped into the darkness around the tree trunk where I had sat to rest some hours ago, picking through the vines and twigs of the forest floor.
“Where is the thing…?” I murmured to myself as I fumbled in the near-darkness for my flashlight. It had been secured in a belt hoop before I had taken reprise but I had removed it to relieve the discomfort of its constant pressure on my waist. As I continued to grabble for the light, my lack of success led to nervousness. My pace quickened and my breath shortened as I reached into the myriad of foliage at my side.
Ha…I’d lose my head if it weren’t…attached…” I bantered with myself in a weak attempt to stave off anxiety; however, the scratch in my voice reassured my distress. The prickling of the twigs and leaves against my skin paired with the indistinct, bustling backdrop of the jungle pushed me to panic. I was now flailing both my arms wildly in search of the light. I wanted nothing more than to see my surroundings, no matter what they behold. My imagination raced at an incredible pace, revealing to me a horrifying delusion of my prison of darkness.
At last, my hand had been met in the shadows by the familiar texture of the light handle. I quickly brandished it and clicked it on. Observing the brush line surrounding me, I breathed forth a sigh of relief, which had been held since my earlier period of trepidation.
I mustered myself to my feet and rearmed myself with my hunting rifle. The smooth, finished stock against my arm reminded me of the hunt that would await the next day.

Never finished it.

I thought it was going to be the hand of a monster or something.

I guess I've been spending too much time in the nightmare inducement thread.

I took a creative writing class in high school. I though it was a waste of time, really. I got more out of reading Wilde in my free time.

Nah...

The story was going to progress into the hunter being stalked by a panther after dropping his gun while running from it.

After spending several nights being watched by the creature he makes a run for camp. Then, as he approaches camp, the panther still chasing behind, the hunter falls into one of his own pitfalls, impaling himself on the spikes he sharpened just the week before.

It was a decent idea but I got bored of it and never finished.
