I have a Crate g130c xl. It's awesome. The gain channel is the best solid state distortion I have ever heard. My only issue with it is the solid state power section. It has a preamp out jack, so I figure I could just get a tube power amp and be all set. Right? But.. What power amp do I get? I really don't know anything about the subject, so any help is appreciated. Trying to stay lower than $150.

Not gonna happen since most tubes cost more than that. But Carvin makes the cheapest one.

Well, I have a 250 watt solid state radio shack power amp that I forgot about. Think that'll work?

You won't find any decent tube power amps for that price. If you spend around $300 you might be able to find a used Carvin T100 on ebay.

The TS100s by Carvin aren't great, they sounds way to clean.. like a PA power amp almost.

Well, clean is kind of what I'm going for. I'm trying to get less power amp breakup at gigging volumes.
