I own an old DVD of The Who playing in the 70's. I also went to see The Who last November.

Then and now Pete kicks ass, he's an absolute monster onstage for a 64-year-old half-deaf with arthritis who was accused of being a pedophile.

That said, Buddy Guy's a definite second for me, then Jimi, and from there it's a toss-up for me between Steve Vai and Rory Gallagher.

I respect anyone who DOESN'T have a stage act. They are forced and overused, like loving music is a rountine.

i'd say either Paul Gilbert or Vai if we're talking about instrumental guitarists.

both always seem to have crazy fun while playing and always keep their show interesting.

Wrong. Buddy Guy was a huge influence on Hendrix's stage act, and he had been doing those tricks almost 10 years before Hendrix became popular. The shame is that eventually people thought Guy was copying Hendrix when it was really the other way around. Coincidentally I just saw Buddy Guy live in Dallas and his rapport with the crowd was amazing. His stage act was phenomonal, and the concert bordered on being a religious experience for me. His live show was easily better than Clapton's who I've also seen in concert.

Check out the Entertainer and Influence sections here to see just how big of an effect Guy had on every blues-rocker of the 60s and 70s.
