some1 is selling a B 52 at 212 for $500. it seems high to me. I sold my 5150 because i want something with a little better cleans. do you think the b 52 can do that? but i still want a good metal tone because thats what i usually play. how will this compare to the 5150?

It's kind of a step down, IMO, from a 5150 to a B-52 AT-212. And I don't think it's a particularly good deal, either (assuming they are USD you're referring to)
To my knowledge, you can pick up a B-52 AT-112 for roughly $360 from Musicians Friend. Another speaker should not cost over $150.

Actually, is it the 100 watt version? Because if you're not gigging, you won't need that much power. I'd recommend simply getting the B-52-AT-112 (it is still plenty loud enough for most bars and clubs, anyway)

Or, if you are interested in maintaining the original 5150 tone but also a solid clean channel, a Bugera 6262 is something to look into. They are essentially clones of the Peavey 6505, which is a clone of the 5150, I think.

It will need a cabinet:

I haven't tried either of these, so try and research them as best you can.

Or you could simple get the combo version:

And if that's too much, wait until one pops up second hand.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
