I think it's fine with me.
I pay like $50 a month for myself and I only pay like 5% of the total costs of perscriptions and everything. I don't see why everyone freaks out about it. In cali it seems pretty good.

And I have asthma so I technically have a pre-exsisting condition, but I don't pay anymore for it.

Each American purchases their own.
They pay each month to be covered.
When they get sick the insurance company can drop the person who is sick because they will cost the company money.
Many Americans cannot afford it.
Doctors wont treat someone who doesn't have it
The president is pushing health care reform but the conservative party claims we will become a socialist country if we do.

I'm missing a lot but thats the basic idea.

It's something that the republican party doesn't want and even a lot of congress doesn't like the idea of it.

Oh wait...youre not American? Yeah nvm, you probably have a better chance of using your brain power to figure it out than most of these fools here.

But what if you start to develop problems with your asthma does it cost you more?

Not for bad reasons, Try implimenting something that costs trillions of dollars when you have none.
Medicare costs way more than envisioned. It was estimated at around 12 billion and cost us over 100 billion the first year it was implemented. I expect a national system would be pretty much the same story and American doesn't have much money to be spending.

I've had lots of problems with it, and nope. Never raised. And I have been without health care for 5 years of my life. America just needs to make sure insurance companies don't screw you over, we don't need nationalized HC.
So pretty much not increasing it for stupid things. It's a rare case, but it happens. I'm disgusted with what happens, it should be illegal.

A lot of the things proposed have been verbally agreed to by the insurance companies. I don't see why we need hundreds of pages of new laws

The Republican party doesn't want it because if it passes and the American people start experiencing the beauty of the system first hand and realizing everything the opposition told them is total bullshit, the country will not elect another Republican President for 50 years

the quality is exaggerated. its just super expensive...

My understanding is that if you have a lot of money you are all good, but if you are dirt poor you are pretty much fcuked.

Medicare.
If you are dirt poor there is free care. If you still can't pay there are charities and other things you can go to.

125 people died today because they couldn't afford healthcare. 125 more people will die tomorow, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day

But hell, 1/6th of your economy comes from the suffering of these human beings, so let's just keep it going the way it is and not do dick all about it

Those numbers are always misleading. Show me a few sources on in so I can look into it.
There are ways to pay for it. If I were sick my family would try to do everything they could.
Considering most poor in America own their own house they can sell it to pay for it. If you can't the government will eventually pick up the tab. There ARE ways. There are some people who won't look for ways.

Psh, that's weak sauce. I hit a tree on my bike recently and the total cost of the ambulance+trauma clinic expenses and whatnot totaled over $38K.

Fortunately, the insurance covered it.

It's harsh but if you have some sort of brilliant fucking idea for saving all these lives without unfairly taxing the hell out of everyone and/or creating one of the most inefficient health care systems in the God damn world, lay it on us.

you have insurance? See if morons who don't have insurance/coverage do something stupid and break something, then taxpayers have to pay for that $1000 ambulance ride, plus anesthetics, plus medical costs (x-rays, shots, etc.). Ridiculous. I say let the people suffer financially instead of wasting money on them. I don't know the effects it will have on illegal immigrants though. I'm really anti-immigrant. Might sound racist, but they don't have rights, so they shouldn't get anything from a citizen. The fact that many can actually get treated at a hospital is disgusting.

EDIT: And left wing democrats are socialist. They want to help people who either don't deserve it or can't afford it. Aren't we supposed to be Capitalist? Let the poor be poor and the rich be rich. Don't rape the rich's money to help the poor. We do enough of that already. The healthcare thing is too much.

Yeah, it is a bad time to try putting something so drastic into action. But I think its important, I have lost family because of the current health care system and I am uncovered, so I'm just a accident or sickness away from being forever anally screwed.

It isn't complete relevant. We could subsidize it for people who don't qualify for Medicare and all that up to around $50,000 and I'd be fine. I just would rather the government focus on politics not my health. Plus it's a state issue not a federal one.

No actually, if you are dirt poor you are fine and if you are rich you are fine. If you are somewhere in the middle like most of us you end spending as much money on health care costs as on any other bills you have.

I have health insurance-$80 dollars a month about 7% of my income. I had surgery in february for a ovarian cyst-i am 24 years old-i pay $100 a month for that- it will take me 2 years to pay it off. I also have endometriosis i take 3 medications which cost $150 a month with insurance plus $25 per office visit once a month. $350 a month which is a third of what I make in a month. If I didn't have a job and a couple of kids I wouldn't be paying a dime. If I didn't have these expenses I could afford to buy a house.

I am all for having health insurance as long as it covers all expenses otherwise why have it in the first place. doctor bills can be a real burden for middle class families in this country. I actually have it better than most.

Your military budget is currently around 660 billion dollars a year. Simply cut that in HALF and it's still more than all of Europe's combined and 4 times more than the next leading military, China.

There's 330 billion dollars to put towards schools, healthcare, housing, etc. Will never ever happen because for some reason America needs a military budget of world conquest proportions.

But it's a nice idea
