looks good w/ the rest of the family... ^_^

i wanted a sterling for the slimmer neck but when i tried this one out, it's not as wide that it's uncomfortable. plus, i got a good deal on it. got it for $580.

im not really a basist but now that i have this... i'll be sure to practice bass as well.

now i just need a drumset. lol

oh the neck isn't maple... it's natural, so I have to oil it bout once a month. not a big fan of oiling but yeah, it's a good deal and I have been itching to get a musicman bass for a while now.

ok, I'll check the serial # when I get home.

I just went by what the previous owner said cos it didn't really matter to me what year it is unlike my Les Paul, which I wanted a model before they started the chambered thing.

Wait, I'm confused. Are you saying that the fretboard on that isn't maple? Because it most definitely looks like maple.

EDIT: maybe i'm just being stupid here, its been a long day

I figured haha, I guess something was lost in translation and went over my head. My apologies for the confusion.

The red is beautiful, you should really polish that sucker and make it shine!

I found a serial number of B 04488 and that one was made in january 97. I'd assume yours is close to this. I just did some google work so i'm sure someone on here who knows more about EB serials could tell you more.

The bass with the similiar serial was also red with a maple fretboard, too.

Actually it WAS made in Jan 1997. So you have a very nice purchase indeed. Kudos. If you want to confirm this, you can also email EB, or post in one of their forums.

Why would you have to oil that? It has frets so the strings wouldn't even touch the wood that much. A fretless I would understand protecting it.

I imagine the oil would be to preserve the condition of the wood in the way of drying out and such. Oil would do nothing for protecting a fretless bass's fretboard in any way.

It might! That was more of a guess haha I do understand keeping the wood in good condition though. Such a nice instrument should be taken care of.

Very nice. The necks do get pretty dirty but it keeps you from neglecting such a beautiful piece of maple. Is that thing passive? 2 tone knobs?

Good buy
