I got a Crate GT212 really cheap. It doesn't work so well (crazy feedback at all volume levels). I've been looking at Blackheart Little Giants, Killer Ants, and Vox AC4TVH tube heads. I used the searchbar...and I think it is possible to simply turn my GT212 combo into an 2 x 12 extension cabinet.

I also have Fender Stage 1000 with a single 1 x 12 Celestion...but this is in pretty good shape, so I don't want to hack into it (too much).

I was just looking for more advice on how to do so.

Yes, there have been a few threads about splitting a combo into head and cab.

Do what? Be specific.

You can make a new box for the head and modify the combo box as just a cab.

You can make a new box for the cab and put the baffle and speakers in that,
modify the combo box to house the head.

You can leave both the head and speakers in the combo box and modify the wiring.
Install jacks so either just the head or just the speakers can be used.

The question is: What do YOU want to do?

I want to modify the combo box as just a cab. As far as the head...I'm not sure I even want to mess with it right now.

Is simply removing the head enough? You mentioned baffles...and I'm not sure what those are or what to do about them. I do have access to any number of woodworking tools (table saw, chopsaw, router, planer, jointer, dril press, you name it).
