Is it a Randall of some sort?

I know they put those metal bars in the back of their amps to draw heat off the tubes.

How someone managed to guess the amp when Dragon's are normally brown is beyond me? I had the classic one for a while... the name suits it really well.

My opinions:

Really fizzy at low volumes (even 8 o'clock) But when you opened it up, it was glorious.
Awesome clean tones.
The difference between the rhythm and lead channel weren't noticeable enough.
It's ultra well built.
One of the best looking amps out there, and a great matching cabinet.
Overpriced brand new.
Incredibly loud.
Decent EQer.
Really sweet vintage vibe to everything.

Cool stuff man, I can't wait to give it a test run when I get a cab, It's mainly going to be used for recording either at home or at my college (proper studio with isolated Live room) so volumes not a major issue for me. I also jam with a drummer friend a fair bit and I've got my e530 for direct in when I want to be quiet. So hopefully it should do me well, and well for 450 quid I couldn't pass it up

£450 - that's a steal. I can't believed I paid €1799 for mine.

In cuts through quite well in a band situation, but you do need to drive it hard for it to sound it's fullest.

I hope it works out well for you.

I know!!!!

Anyone got some good suggestions for a cab?

I'm looking at about a £500 4x12 with V30's. At the moment I'm waiting for someone to get back to me about an ENGL v30 cab but he already has someone going to see it, so I'm not holding out much hope.

Failing that its between:

Blackstar Series 1 straight cab

Cornford V30 straight cab

Orange PPC412 Straight Cab

Randall RS-412 XLT Straight Cab

There all around £500, I can try both the blackstar and cornford but not the orange or randall. Any thoughts?

Unless you want something specific in terms of speaker configurations - in which case I'd recommend Matamp. They will custom make you a cabinet for under £500. And you can take the head to the factory to test any speaker configurations out you want. - The matching Framus 4x12 will perfect.

The Orange cabinets are overpriced and poorly made, IMO. They sound good but that's about it.
I haven't played a Randall cabinet before. I've heard they're decent.
Cornford are bound to have great cabinets. They mostly use V30's so I imagine they excell at it or else they'd mix and match.
I have no experience with the Blackstar cabs - they're pretty new.

Thanks! To be honest that was my exact feelings when I put the bid on, I didn't even expect to win the auction!

Now its here I can't wait to try it! I'm going to head over to Anderton's today and try out the Blackstar and Cornford cabs, I might even try the Rectifier cab they have there but I some how doubt its going to be worth the £400 more it costs than either of the other two.

Maybe ther'll be a new cab day for me very soon
