What amp do you play?
Any pedals?

we ask a bunch of questions to help you out and this is what you give us.
#13
psyarx, (and anyone else thinking about making a "what gear should I get" thread) we need to know the following things to help you.

I repeat, WE *NEED* TO KNOW THESE THINGS TO HELP:

1. What amp do you have?
2. How much are you willing to spend (budget)?
3. What tone are you aiming for/what bands do you want to sound like/what music do you play?
4. Tremolo/hardtail, wood preference, body shape preference, pickup preference, feature preference, or any other preferences you have for this guitar. Tell us what you want.

The more details you give us, the more helpful we can be. If we don't know what amp you have or what sound you want then we can't give you any advice -- and a lot of the folks here would love to do just that.

Beat the recession by soldering your strings back together! What's more, the extra metal vibrating back and forth will add to your tone... and what could be more metal than more metal!?!

you CAN get an ibanez js100 on ebay for less that 400 dollers
as amazing as this sounds, you just have to make an offer to the seller
its not that hard
i got mine for 340 dollers
js100 usally sell for 800
and talk about tonal quality
has one of lowest actions on a guitar i have ever seen,
and stays in tune even if you do crazy bends with the trem system
it is good for everything from classic rock and clean guitar sounds (due to the pickup splitting)
to some early meatal
BUY ONE!

I'm going to go with the LTD EC1000 or MH1000.

They sell new for $500.

Holy Vague Batman!

Anywho-

For five hundred bucks, you can get a decent Mid-range ESP LTD, Ibanez, and of course, Jackson. For Ibanez, check out the RG series at that price point, ESP LTD has the MH, and Jackson has the Pro or X-series.

In terms of an amp, Marshalls at $500 bucks will get you the solid state MG250DFX, but I don't think thats what you're looking for.

To be honest, to all the people who answer beyond me- it seems that the TS'er isn't really worried about the nuance or finer points of their instrument.

TS- I recommend doing some research and looking into the differences between guitars, brands, and amps, and then coming back here with more focused questions so we can further help you

Can I join in too? I'd agree with you on the Jem bit I'm actually on a real Soloist high I think I may just have to buy one soon otherwise my head will explode due to the lack of awesome in my rig.
#26
yeah, but bear in mind that anything with jackson on the headstock normally falls apart before you get it out of the case, and when you learn to not use distortion all the time and actually play with the pup selector and tone control the jem leaves the soloist quaking in it`s case ~(no wonder they self destruct)

okay then what about a marshall amp

No.

Vyper or Cube's are probably the best brand new for metalzz.

As for a guitar, I don't know, an Ibanez RG or S series maybe. You might be able to pickup a used Schecter Blackjack or hellraiser even.

Nah man that's those cheap Behringer iaxe guitars you're thinking of that fall apart when you take them out of the case. I played one once and had to wash myself straight away it felt so bad I'm surprised people actually buy the models, they are just so horrible to play even for a first guitar.

The man from Kosovo is correct, I have great metal tones out of my Line 6 spider and emg active pickups. If you can't get a good tone out of the spider you must be working really hard trying not to get it too sound great.
