Ok, so have learnt "so much" in my guitar playing,
I know my scales, normal, exotic know my modes and why they are used,
chord shapes,

..and the million dollar question..
WHAT NOW?

I am going NOWHERE towards growth as a musician,
i have tried string skipping, sweeping, nothing works.

this is why being self taught sucks, I don't have proper guidance neither the time to seek it out, (employment, you see)

any help whatsoever is appreciated,

The board is yours gentlemen...

Try playing some songs. And if you're having trouble with any find out what you're doing wrong and practice it. looks like you know a lot of theory, so just focus on your technique a little?

Hi All,

I know my scales, normal, exotic know my modes.

Can you help me?

Those things are not "ends" - they're "means".

You have to decide where you want to go, what you want to do and what you want to sound like, and work towards that - it doesn't really happen if you try to do it the other way around like you have been.

This.

It's not about what techniques or scales you have mastered, but about what music you want to play.

Learn music. Don't just learn how to play techniques, learn how to play music. All those techniques mean nothing if you can't apply them. It's not what you play, it's how you play it that counts.

Junior's usually at least a little terse, but he knows his stuff. I've always read his posts in a grouchy grandfather voice, a grouchy grandfather with a huge stiffy for alternate picking.
Besides that, he's right this time. As usual.

I guess that's the only way to go,

I get stuck in a rut of playing the same thing again and again,

more time with the gat i think
