Ight so i gotta do a song analysis and i'm doing cyberwaste by fear factory. now i need to identify if there is a simile/metaphor/hyperbole or personifictation in these lyrics.. i can't figure it out though... help plz.. here are lyrics below. also if you can figure out which it is can you tell me which line.. thanks

EDIT> I also can't figure out the theme of this song

Nothing you say matters to us
Nothing you say matters to us
**** you

Spread your word this point of you
And connect the machine
Goddamned words, ocean of lies
Taunting you to decieve

Nothing you say matters to us
Nothing you say matters to us
You are a virus spreading disease
Your life is so sad spreading lies of hate
Nothing you say matters to us
Nothing you say matters to us
**** you

So you'll seize up in your lies you
Tell up at the site
Sees you, signals and hate me to stand
Me with your lies

You are a virus spreading disease
Your life is so sad spreading lies of hate

Reap what you sow
Your words are shit

You are a virus spreading disease
Your life is so sad spreading lies of hate

Awesome that you know my thoughts
(All I want to do is see)
Made back screen with your disease
(Tapping only on the keys)
Change your face in front of me
(Safe behind the cyberscreen)
Wishing that you knew the truth
(All I know is what I read)

Nothing you say matters to us

"You are a virus spreading disease" - metaphor. Comparing "you" to virus spreading disease, but does not use 'like' or 'as'

"Your words are shit" - metaphor. The person's words aren't LITERALLY shit, but they're being compared to shit.
If you could turn into a member of the opposite sex, would you make love to your former body? Think about that.

First time through, I Attribute about how everyone grows a pair online, and "Spread lies".
'Tapping on keys... Behind a Screen...Virus... Signals...Device..."

Its about someone not caring about anothers opinions over the Internet.

Was it really that hard? Why not pick a different song? With less horrible lyrics? Seriously, I could name so many more songs with Metaphors and such... And you know what sucks?

I can't Unremember those lyrics now...

Yeah really, you could've picked much better lyrics.
It almost sounds like the dude is pissed off at what people are saying about his band on the internet or something: "safe behind the cyberscreen" "virus spreading hate" etc.

But yeah, an angsty song with swearing isn't going to give you instant badass points with the teacher man.

well what songs would you guys choose.. i like any metal really.. more of the newer shit and i like rock

Something without so much unnecessary swearing

"**** IT ALL! **** THIS WORLD!
**** EVERYTHING THAT YOU STAND FOR!
DON'T BELONG! DON'T EXIST!
DON'T GIVE A SHIT!
DON'T EVER TOUCH ME!
and don't you ****in' judge me!"

See how that doesn't sound very metaphorical?

To be honest, there's not all that much to analyse. There are a few poetic devices but overall there's not much substance IMO. Go for a Metallica song perhaps, they use a thin layer of mystique to cover main themes including drug abuse, loneliness, etc.

You are a virus spreading disease = metaphor

That's basically it. Not really a deep and meaningful song if you know what I mean
