Please be stable, man.
I don't wanna lose another great this year!

Morrissey was the very well-known man from the Smiths, he was known for being a great lyricist and a damn fine singer. The Smiths have influenced a wide range of artists from Oasis to Jeff Buckley, and maybe be the pioneers of jangle pop/brit pop. They say all the artists in the 80's two-finger saluted the cameras... Starting with Morrissey.

What's a Morrissey?

Edit: Nevermind, it's some guy I've never heard of. I thought it was a building or something.

You're forgiven for not being English.
Otherwise it wouldn't have been acceptable.

Not being English is no excuse for not knowing who Morrissey is.

I guess so.

For all those that keep asking, I'll edit it in that he was from the smiths D:

That still doesn't tell me anything, since I'm not English.

For those who don't know, Morrissey is all that is awesome in this world. I'll be really sad if anything is wrong with him.
This news ruined my night.

I DECREE TODAY THAT LIFE IS SIMPLY TAKING AND NOT GIVING
ENGLAND IS MIIIIIIIINE
AND IT OWES ME A LIVING.

Hereforth, ITT: Smiths/Morrissey lyrics.

Last night I dreamt
That somebody loved me
No hope, no harm
Just another false alarm

Last night I felt
Real arms around me
No hope, no harm
Just another false alarm

Let me get my hands
On your mammary glands
And let me get your head
On the conjugal bed
I say, i say, i say

Good song.

christ imagine how many flowers he would get at his funeral.

he definately defines being british in terms of being a miserable moody git, but americans dont understand this is a form of catharsis...and he is taking the piss.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG EVEERRR.

Farewell to this land's cheerless marshes,
Hemmed in like a boar between arches.
Her very Lowness with a head in a sling,
I'm truly sorry, but it sounds like a wonderful thing.

I said "Charles don't you ever crave
To appear on the front of the Daily Mail
Dress in your mother's bridal veil?"

And so I checked all the registered historical facts,
And I was shocked into shame to discover
That I'm the eighteenth pale descendant
Of some old queen or other.

Has the world changed or have I changed?
Oh, has the world changed or have I changed?
Some nine year old tough, who peddles drugs,
I swear to God, I swear I never even knew what drugs were.

So I broke into the palace with a sponge and a rusty spanner.
She said "eh, I know you and you cannot sing."
I said "that's nothing, you should here me play piano!"

We can go for a walk where it's quiet and dry,
And talk about precious things;
But when you're tied to your mother's apron,
No one talks about castration.

We can go for a walk where it's quiet and dry,
And talk about precious things;
Like love and law and poverty,
Oh, these are the things that kill me.

We can go for a walk where it's quiet and dry,
And talk about precious things;
But the rain that flattens my hair,
Oh, these are the things that kill me.

Passed the pub that saps your body,
And the Church who'll snatch is your money.
THE QUEEN IS DEAD, boys!
(And it's so lonely on a limb.)

Passed the pub that wrecks your body,
And the Church, all they want is your money.
THE QUEEN IS DEAD, boys!
(And it's so lonely on a limb.)

Life is very long,
When you're lonely.

Johnny Rotten, eat yr heart out!

I tried to learn the entire Queen Is Dead album once...
"Damn you, Johnny Marr!" is all I can say. Haha.

A sad fact widely known
The most impassionate song
To a lonely soul
Is so easily outgrown
But dont forget the songs
That made you smile
And the songs that made you cry
When you lay in awe
On the bedroom floor
And said whoawhoa smother me mother...
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring
Nooooooooooooooooooo no no noooooooo
Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring

He's so underrated it's not even funny. Forget Slash and Paige, Johnny Marr is a fucking genius.

'I would go out tonight, but i havent got a stitch to wear'

Great line (traditional British saying). We are losing these poetic lines for Americanisms.

I hope that he gets ok. Those two last years have been awful for music.
First Pavarotti, then Richard Wright, then Michael Jackson, then Mercedes Sosa...
If you haven't heard about Mercedes Sosa, watch this. She was the best voice in Argentina, and died last month:
