Hi UG! I'm in the mood of buying new pick ups to my LTD KH - 202, but I don't know wich ones to get. I'm considering some EMGs, like 81/ 85. I wan't pick ups that sound ''Trashy'', like, Kill 'Em All (early Metallica/ Megadeth) ''Trashy'' if you get my point.

Depends more on your amp

EMGs are fine for that, because you will play with a huge amount of distortion, and the EMGs are great for huge amounts of distortion
#6
emg's are perfect but i do belive i would go with seymour duncans like james had in his v

Kill 'Em All, Killing is my Business... and Peace Sells... did not use EMGs.

On Kill 'Em All, Kirk had stock Gibson Flying V pickups or an SD in the bridge. On Killing is my Business and Peace Sells, Dave Mustaine probably used stock pickups or Seymour Duncans.

So I'd suggest SD's over EMG's. But once again, it depends more on your amp and your fingers.

i dont see why you would want a trash tone and trash pickups.

I tried it out in store.

Great neck, nice n light, good tuning stability. Overall a good guitar. I didn't but it cause I generally only buy guitars over a grand now.

EMGs would be great. Or BKP Warpigs in passives.
I pick up my guitar and play

What about James' shitty Flying V copy? Didn't he have EMGs in there by the time the album was recorded?

lts all about the amp...but if you really think u need new pickups you should go for seymour duncan pickups

1. it's not worth getting pickups now, because your tone will still suck, get the pickups later so that you can buy the amp earlier

2. dont buy another spider

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

The Micro Spider will give you a great trash tone, really.
I do not want to have a signature anymore.

I play thrash with the JCM 900 Sl-X and I have recently bought a pair of Guitar Head's HExbucker Pick ups for 45 USD set, they sound really really thrashy, maybe you should check them www.guitarheads.net

Nope. Not until Ride the Lightning.

1. New amp before pickups.
2. No Spiders
3. No MGs
4. Get a Bare Knuckle Painkiller if you're still keen on upgrading your pups. The perfect pickup for prog and thrash.

Well if you want line 6, I shall restate my list:

Vetta
HD147
Flextone

if you want teh t00bz, Bugera or a peavey 5150/6505 will do just dandy, more gain than you'll need in 3 lifetimes.

The only trash related thing the spider series (especially the big ones) are any good for, is the trashBIN.

Trust me, I was thinking about buying a 75/120 watt spider a year back, and I didn't do it and boy, am i glad I didn't.
