Hey Pit,

Is it ok to start a sentence with because? I know my teacher (11th grade) said something about it but can not remember.

Thanks and ,

It is not incorrect to start a sentence with because.

It's incorrect. The word "because" is a conjunction word. You don't put "and" or "or" in a beginning of a sentence right?

Because you asked this question I will give you an answer.

You're missing a comma after "question"

The situation I have is different. I need to explain a quotation and using because is much easier on the mind and will change up my writing so its not so repetative.

Great observation. And it gets to the heart of the matter.

Because it's a conjunctive word, "because" should be part of a subordinate clause when it's used at the beginning of a sentence.

Yes, but I have already done that a couple times. I think I will just use because; it works better.

Unless it's something along the lines of: 'Because, umm, like, the, umm, fish, like, told me to do it' then it's fine to start a sentence with 'Because'.

It's technically incorrect to use it at the start of a sentence, but it has become an ordinary style of speaking. Because of this, I think it should be considered correct rather than following arbitrary language rules that are generally ignored outside of academic use. But I'm not in charge of that, so you'd probably want to find another way of saying what you want to say if you want maximum marks.

Because I've given a grammatically correct sentence in this format, I would assume that one may start certain sentences with because.

Lord Gold probes you publicly and makes your pussy wet.
Now say his name.....

It's only proper if it's an introductory phrase.

Because this thread sucks, I refuse to answer your question.

It's not right however, to just say, "Because I said so!" or something similar.
