Heyy everyone, I've been looking to do a full rig upgrade, getting a mim strat for xmas, and I feel my amp is a bit like poo(note: NOT the fender amp, notice the rocktron written under it.) and I have a pod 2.0, so I need a clean amp, I just don't know how tubes and mfx work, if they play nicely.

Anyways tl;dr need a clean amp for practice and maybe a small gig(most likely mic, or straight from pod)

I play modern ad classic rock, and I'm dipping into Hendrix and more blues, lots more.
I like to play at a decent volume. I'd like to spend maybe like 400 or 500$ max, I can't really shell out too much makin pizza.

Small fender tube amp. But generally amp modelers and tube amps don't like to play well.
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

So pod+tube amp=girl fight?

Can't really go used, craigslist seems to be too dangerous for my parents, I'll do combo or head and cab too, so blues juniors are nice?

They arn't that bad, granted low end modelers will sound terrible.

Those sort of and modelling amps however, they sound terrible together.

I don't know how pods are in the line up of quality, but they're pretty good, cost me 200, any more amps?

A Blues Junior?

Everyone could do with a BJ.

Alternatively a Black Heart Little Giant?

Both should take your Pod quite well.

I'd suggest the Blues Jr., definitely your best choice for clean sound.

Have to say it....bj...hheheh.

Sorry about that lol, damn 17 yr old mind set. But would I just have to like counter the breakup I want with the od on the pod? Like say I put the amp on3/4ths, and I get a decent acdc breakup or so, would I just need to put the pod on clean and kick thedrive up or down depending on my preference?

dude... 3/4 volume is loud on a tube amp!

With regards to your question, I can't give an answer as I've never tried that setting.

Well I know that, but not for practice, I was just referring to the amount of breakup lol.

But the bh5h will play nice with my pod? And stay clean at moderate practice levels?

Yeah 3/4 volume is pertty loud on a tube amp, even a little 5 watt. But if you want big amp with decent cleans for cheap, look into a Valveking, they have good cleans and distortion for the price. If you want little amp with good cleans then look into the Blues Jr. since its a wonderful little amp with great cleans. If you want real cleans the look for a Fender Reverb or Fender Deville. You cant really get better cleans than Fender.

Yes the Blackheart will work well with your pod, and it will definitely stay very clean at moderate practice levels. Above 5 it gets a little muddy, but then unless you're gigging a Little Giant at 5 is more than plenty loud for practice.

Take note though the Blackheart has a fat voicing, so its not similar to a Fender amp's voicing.

not really, no idea where you got that from.

OK, first, I'm a retired old guy, but spent a lot of years fixing all sorts of amps, etc. After reading all the comments so far, I'd add one recommendation. I assume you want clean and versatile. I'd at least try out the Fender Vibro Champ XD. I know Nashville guitar session guys that use this as a recording amp. Also has an output so that you can add a bigger cabinet, to offset the 8" speaker. The amp can be had brand new for less than $200 US. It's worth a look, even at the measly 5 watts. It's the loudest and cleanest 5 watts you'll ever hear!

Good luck
P.S The blues junior that is frequently mentioned here really is a great one also, in case you need that extra power.
