Stole this idea from the metal forum. I have no regrets!

In your opinion, what is the best hardcore album of 2009?

I vote for:

The Fall Of Troy - In The Unlikely Event

EDIT: AFI's new album is a close second, though.

A Day To Remember's Homesick or The Devil Wears Prada's With Roots Above and Branches Below. Best 2 CDs EVER! If I had to choose it would have to be ADTR.

More alternative/punk nowadays...their OLD stuff was. I just thought I'd mention them. Many people in Hardcore still listen to them.

TUI - Secrets
Rise and Fall - Our Circle
Iron Age - Sleeping Eye

7'': Naysayer - No Remorse
Foundation - Hang Your Head
Bonus Army - Negative Outlooks
Paint It Black - Amnesia

Can't wait for: Backtrack
Fingers Crossed/Legion split
Bane
Forfeit

I know there's stuff I'm forgetting.

I thought the whole idea of post-hardcore was to mix techno and hardcore.....

Rival Mob- Raw Life

Sleeping Eye is basically a metal album....a really really good metal album, but just saying.

Yeah, I guess older AFI was more intense. I'd vote for With Roots Above and Branches Below by TDWP

Converge, but...

If DEP is coming out late this year, the title is definitely going to them.

Haven't got Axe To Fall yet (preordered the t-shirt bundle, shipping takes forever to Norway), so untill then Hollow Crown.

AFI's new album is not good. Has 2 decent songs and thats it. Yes they were a hardcore band at one time, now they're just a bad pop/rock band.

My list definately consists of:

Converge - Axe To Fall
Iron Age - Sleeping Eye
Lewd Acts - Black Blue Eyes

New Paint It Black album kinda sucked imo

also new Blacklisted will probably be out before the end of the year, cant wait for that

This is my short-list for potential top tens, I will narrow it down in the next few weeks:

Celeste- Misanthrope: Probably one of the heaviest albums I've heard all year.
Kidcrack- Snacks: Their follow-up to Jokes, not as good but still solid.
Daitro- Y: Catchy, melodic, generally enjoyable.
Punch- S/T: One of the best power-violence albums I've heard.
Pulling Teeth- Paradise Illusions/Paranoid Delusions: I like where they're going.
Ghostlimb/Fischer- Split: If this had been a Ghostlimb LP it would get #1 spot.
Shook Ones- Unquoteable AMH: Soooooo catchy.
Fall of Efrafe- Inle: Good record but the drumming is lacking.
Trainwreck- Of Concrete Canyons and Inner Wastelands: Quality heavy-hardcore/real emo album.
Portraits of Past- Cypress Dust Witch: Legendary (real) emo band doing what they do best.
Loma Prieta- Dark Mountain: I need to listen to this more, but it's a potential top five.
Rise and Fall- Our Circle Is Vicious: More listenable than Into Oblivion. I really enjoy this.
Maus- Demo: Excellent

did No love can save me come out this year? if so winner for Ep.

Converge for full length, just for the two last tracks alone.
Oh close to Pulling teeth too.

WRAABB was an amazing album. I'd also have to say Constellations by August Burns Red, because that album kicks so much ass. I might have to put To Plant A Seed by WCAR on here after it comes out. The songs they've got up now are awesome, so I'm hoping the album is going to be too.

honestly if i really had to pick one absolute best album i think i'd be torn between Iron Age and Converge. I honestly though Bloodwolves was one of the best songs Pulling Teeth has written to date, but the rest of the album didn't really deliver for me as much as the last two lps.

Overrall I think the Sleeping Eye is probably the best release in 2009 (as good as Axe To Fall is)

Blacklisted's new release will be album of the year. Calling it.

I really hope this happens. I thought Heavier Than Heaven, Lonelier Than God was mediocre and I eagerly anticipate the day where they can release something that I'll enjoy as much as We're Unstoppable or The Beat Goes On.

I felt that Heavier Than Heaven... lacked stand-out songs, besides the few that were on the ep they had released earlier and I Am Weighing Me Down which they released in a handful of free comps.

new trainwreck and loma prieta were both pretty underwhelming.

I never really listened to Loma Prieta, so their newest album seemed good to me. As for Trainwreck, their S/T is one of my favorite records so they will be hard-pressed to top it as far as I'm concerned.

I greatly prefer Last City. and I've only listened to the Trainwreck a few times but their songs on the Comadre split are wayyy more emotional and enjoyable, imo of course.

Best full length, Axe to Fall.
Best ep, Hang Your Head.
