I am making the suspasustain pedal from the schem on this site:

http://www.schematicheaven.com/effects/colorsound_supasustain.pdf

I am using maplins to source all of my bits from and will be picking them up as soon as I get the chance!

I have just made my pcb design a bit smaller - as seen in the image. I am using pcb express to design this. The red dots are inches

Now I want to being the etching prosess soon but cannot print off my transfer before I have it perfect. My question is:

At the in/out points of the circuit what does the grounding sign mean? Is it just the extra lug on the jack? _ Answered! - Thanks james!

Cheers.

Yano

Ps. If anyone is interested then I am following this guide:

http://www.ehow.com/how_4897548_build-own-pcb.html

And this powder:http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=47464

Cuz I cant afford a tank or UV box!

Also, for the benifit of my shopping list would this help shield the circuit a bit (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=29005) / what type of box would be the best shield?

Ah! Thanks for reminding me!

I am unsure of the purpose of the heat shrink and what needs to be in it.

Do I just get some heat shrink tape and wrap it around the two in the box?

Also, if you dont mind being bombarded with questions - what type of transistor do I need?

EDIT: another question: Where does the footswitch come in? - The button thing on the pic of the pedal? Do i just use it to switch between direct to out and the circuit upon the input? Would this count as true bypass?

Edit2: Ah I see - would have to do this:http://www.muzique.com/lab/truebypass.htm

What type of switch is that? 2dpdt?

The LED and LDR go inside the heatshrink. Its to isolate the LDR from any outside light.

Are you sure you know how to build this? The schem calls for BC169.

What is a 2dpdt? Do you mean a 3pdt? A dpdt?

edit: I have run into a problem!

AFter I was kindly told what kind of transistor to use I have been about and cannot find em anywhere! Any ideas?

couldnt find it on any of my 'normal' parts sites, but.. they're around, at least

try looking up the datasheet and finding an equivalent if you like, too

The BC169 is not easy to find. Obsolete and out of production. Best to find an equivalent easier to find replacement. I plan to build one of the supastains eventually just got a ton of other projects to finish first.
