So as many of you may have gathered... I like buying basses.
I am currently on eight.

My latest purchase was something I've wanted for a long time, but could never easily find. So when I saw one on ebay I pounced on it.

Oh ye.

Everyone has been saying to me 'So what band are you going to use it in?' and all I can say is "Erm... I don't really know."

From when I last posted pictures, (L-R)
-The ibanez has gained herself a seperate pick-up circuit, it now has two outputs.
-The antoniotsai is still sexy.
-I got a free westone headless bass. Only three strings on it at the moment, but a surprisingly nice tone from it.
- I still don't like the 6 string fretless as much as I should.

Excellent find, I wasn't even aware that they made resonator basses.

And now to cope with my envy, I shall proceed to spend my student loans on said drugs and alcohol

What's the song at 6:08? I can't for the life of me remember what it's called.

On topic, nice find. Looks great!

Edit: Never mind, I found it.

Is it one of those Rail basses with the sliding pickup?

Westone Quantum? It's one of the last proper Matsumoku Westones.
I must say, I love the collection all told. It's quite left of field, and the reso is a fine addition to it.
I'm actually, genuinely, green with envy at people buying interesting stuff! Damn skintness...

This is why I love being a 19 year old who has a semi-decent job, a student loan and still lives at home

And yes, looking at my bass, it is actually the same model.
...Only mine has had the pointy horn bits chopped off.

I got it for free because I lent my Peavey millennium to someone (he needed a low B) and he gave me that as a way to pay back the favour and because he didn't want it.

Also, that isn't my full collection :L
I also have an stagg ERB and the aforementioned Peavey.
My buying is bordering on a problem.

Actually I am really jealous. I would seriously commit larceny for that reso....

I have the same affliction but a mortgage and two college educations to pay for tend to keep me in check.

^agreed

Just out of curiosity, how much did that bad boy set you back?
Also, just to put it out there, I am officially in love with your bass collection

My instrument collection in general is rather impressive, I just like my basses more.
It cost me 205GBP, it's a beauty to play.

I'll record some sound clips tomorrow with my new condenser.

I expected it to sound more banjo-esque than a regular acoustic, but it just has this really nice clean tone about it. I love the really long sustained notes. It reminds me more of a piano than a bass.

Any song requests?

Seems like it would have a really unpleasantly bright tone, but I guess that i would have to hear it first.

Extremely bright? Yes. Unpleasantly bright? Thats in the eye of the beholder, but in my experience with aluminum necked basses, no.

Looks like polished steel to me...the color appears too dark to be aluminum. You never know, though...shiny things to strange stuff in pictures. How heavy is it?
Nope, no sig here.

^no--that would be any Reggae / ska event. Actually he likes Primus now, esp. the Tim Alexander era. He's a big Adrian Belew fan and you can hear quite a bit of Belew in Ler's guitar playing.

Back on track--I wonder how that reso would sound with Blues? Reso guitars sound great playing blues.
