I've been searching the internet for a while and I can't find these certian kind of pickups. I'm not talking about mini buckers, I'm talking about a single coil pickup with 12 pole peices instead of 6, all lined up. I remember my local music store, Straight Music, had a perwired pickguard for a strat with 3 of them in it. And they also had one already installed in a Strat, and I was blown away by how good they sounded. But I couldent afford it at the time since the prewired pickguard was $300, so I got the EMG prewired pickguard, which was only $250.

Can someone help me find these pickups? I really want to know what they are and where to find them, I'm sure someone else here might want to know too.

^ no, and no, it looked just like your normal Fender single coil but with 12 pole peices, the way the guy explained it to me is that the extra poles where there to help with keeping the full sound throughout a bend, and sorta acted like a humbucker but sounded nothing like a humbucker, sounded just like a singel coil with no buzz, even with the full distortion of a 6505.
#6
oh. is that what you meant? a SC sized Hum?

i thought you meant 12 poles in a line.
In that case, SD's little series are like that.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Carvin does sell single coils with the 12 pole pieces vs the normal 6.

11 pole, not 12.

What he's looking at has 12. Carvins have 11.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

did you check and make sure they were 12 poles and not 11. because when I first saw them I assumed they were 12 poles.

I agree, but I'm not going to do it today, since its 4pm and in austin that means if I try and get over there next to 183, I will be killed either by the insanely stupid drivers or the hobos.

I'll go tomorrow, I need some strings anyway. I'll let everyone know tomorrow.

So I found out what the pickups are. There custom made DiMarzio single coils. The guitar tech up there has them custom made to order from DiMarzio's factory. And they are in fact 12 pole strat style single coil. But for 3 of em it costs $250-300.

Finally got that mystery solved.
