Wrong.

Veganism is a diet and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose.Vegans endeavor not to use or consume animal products of any kind.

True that.

However, with my research having ended, this thread is now pointless.

No it's not. They also refuse to wear or use anything that's an animal product, such as leather or glue (from horses).

As far as the sponge, I'm pretty sure most of the ones sold in stores nowadays are synthetic, so that's no big deal. I believe that any vegan would refuse to use a natural sponge, though.

no because, like you said, sponges are animals.
veganism makes absolutely no logical sense whatsoever btw. its science. cant argue it.

and no veganism isnt just about diet, its a way of life, like not wearing leather etc..

and im pretty that includes not being able to clean with sponges lol

Well, since vegans are basically not people, because man cannot live off of bread alone, this is pointless.

I hate vegans.

Most sponges today aren't made from animals. The worst you get is ones made from tree polymers. Unless you're super hardcore about skin beauty, you will never come in contact with a sea sponge made sponge.

So, grocery store sponges are safe.

Well most sponges seem to be manufactured without actually using a sea sponge, so I would assume most are fine. Now I assume they would be opposed to using a sea sponge as a sponge.

Ok, I typed sponge too many times. Now it has lost all meaning to me and just sounds weird.

Now that you read that you probably feel the same way. SPONGE.

Why is this even a discussion?

which TS might as well do

sponges are the animal with the fewest animalian traits, they don't even have a nervous system, meaning they literally are completely physically incapable of feeling anything

It's not a matter of opinion, so you could easily have looked up "sponge" on the internet to find out that the type of sponge used for cleaning isn't the game as the animal. So what's the point of this thread?

Yes I completely agree... They are basically just a group of almost unspecialised cells chilling in the water.

BUT, they are still animals. And last time I checked, animals were off limits to sponges.

By the way, there are a sh*t load of animals that don't have a nervous sytem. So I don't think that should be an argument for whether something should or should not be accepted by vegans.
#27
There's one way to find out.
Take a vegan, and tie it down next to a sponge. If the sponge attacks the vegan, then it's not vegan-friendly.

I know, my point was that if there was any animal you could compromise for, the sponge would be it

the vast majority of animals have at least some minor nervous function

and I realise that, it was more a pot shot at the "I don't want to eat anything that feels" bleeding heart type vegans.

Most are synthetic. Unless you go out and make sure that you're buying a real sponge, then yes, they're fine.

Natural sea sponges are normally used for cleaning your body, not dishes and household things.

Edit - Nowadays, that is.

Veganism just doesn't make sense to me. I mean we've been using animal products since we have been on the planet. Animals eat animals, it's just a fact.

That's a Vegan diet, not a Vegan lifestyle. I was referring to the Vegan lifestyle.
