I'm converting a right-handed bass to lefty. I realize that yes, the elctronics are in the way in such. I know I need a new nut, and new strings, as the strings are cut down to the tuning peg. I need to switch the strap buttons now. Is there some sort of technique I could use to make sure I don't get neck dive or anything, or is it more "drill and hope you get lucky?"

Rear strap button shouldn't need to move. It's on the centerline, yeah?

Front strap button should be as close to the head as possible.
If you had a lower horn (now the upper horn) it should be at the tip of that.
Else, attach it to the screw above the centerline, closest to the head on the neck joint plate.
