I have a friend with a really crappy silvertone strat knock off, and I was thinking about buying it off of him and using the parts to make a custom guitar. My plan is to build a body from scratch and put his neck and pickups and everything on it.

So do you guys have any ideas for bodies? I'm not a big fan of those crazy pointy metaled out guitars, I like rickenbacher 4001 basses, epiphone wilshires, gibson corvuses,

rules:
1 strat style neck
2 1 vol 2 tone
3 no more than 3 single coil pups. (1 is slanted)
4 Im willing to make a custom pickgaurd.
5 3 way selector switch.
6 strat style input jack.

ms paint is fine so is auto cad. all entrys welcome as long as the guitar is practicle, ie bc rich mocking bird is okay warlock is not.

do the pups have to be single coil?

For now they do. I am gonna gut a strat copy to make this so I'm all I have is the three single coils. If you want to design a guitar with humbuckers go for it and I might put some in later,

edit: or I guess I could wire two of the sungle coils in to a humbucker and use an SH or HS configuration

you could always try wiring 2 of the singles to be like a humbucker *hint*

won't be exactly like a humbucker but it aint unheard of.

also, BC Rch Eagle shape.

change that damned output jack, redesign the pickguard, and reshape the headstock a bit and you will be golden.

how would you recomend reshaping the headstock?

well I'm guessing you have a bandsaw or a similar tool. just take off the peices you don't want. Check out my build thread, i reshaped a strat headstock (that shape wouldnt fit your body shape real well though)

and I guess you could even glue on additional wood as long as you're gonna paint the headstock.

well, I wasn't really planning on painting. Do you really think the strat headstock looks that bad?
