If youve read my other thread, you'd know i was unsuccessful in deciding a combo amp because everyone voted for saving up. so now that ive decided to save up. heres my guidelines:

present day amp- raven rg20 (this p.o.s. went with my dean vx)

Guitar(s)- esp ltd ec-256. dean vx(first guitar)

Limit- no real limit, as long as its a reasonable amount to save up for.

Style of music- metal, prog-metal, some soft, death metal.
i.e. lamb of god, tool, system of a down, cradle of filth, metallica, mastodon. anything that can play along the lines of those bands.

Gigging? possibly, most likely.

No brand preference

all help is GREATLY appreciated. im hoping to get enlightening advice from knowledgable guitarists.

thank you

i just wanna know whats good for my style of music

Loud
-B52 AT112 combo $350
-Peavey Classic 30 used + OD $450
-Egnater Rebel 30 combo $850
-Uses Marshall JCM800 combo and OD $850
-Peavey 6505+ combo (not sure how much)
-Bugera 333XL and cab $600

Quiet
-Blackstar HT5 $500
Fender Superchamp XD $200

Also take on your local Craigslist to see if there are any good deals. Feel free the PM at any time to ask about an amp. Try to research and play all the amps I suggested. I left the price range broad because I don't know how much you want to spend.

-Gibson LP VM
-Silvertone Kentucky Blue
-MXR CC Delay
-Ibanez TS-9
-Egnater Rebel 20
-Avatar 1x12

My rig is simple
Haha. UG's Chuck just said chuck. haha
You're not truly playing guitar unless you know theory.

Good advice here, though I wouldn't bother with the Egnater or Peavey, they're just voiced wrong for the kind of stuff you play (especially the speakers). Keep a close eye on Craigslist/eBay though.

Boosted 800 will nail children of bodom, mastodon, metallica.

Will get just as much gain as the mesa's and peavey's that the other bands you listen to have, but is British voiced, instead of American voiced.

Mark IV would be better for the American tones... but i've always felt mesa's sag a bit. just my opinion.
Guitars:
Gibson Les Paul Standard
Gibson Explorer New Century
Gibson RD Artist
Fender American Standard Telecaster

Amps:

Framus Cobra
Marshall JCM800 2203 - 1960A

Pedals:

Crybaby 535Q
Rockbox Boiling Point Overdrive

it's so cool to hate Gibson, even the federal Department of Justice hates them.
