So over the last decade the mainstream internet culture started. How do you think it will be considered in years to come?

Will the internet be considered as a wild frontier where people could download thousands of dollars of stuff, where people could be abusive or offensive to others online and get away with it and where pedobears roamed free? Do you think internet speak 'lol' 'br00talz' etc will die out, or be revered? Will the internet be more or less popular in the future?

The internet can only grow and become more accessible on mobile devices, etc , so I doubt it will ever become less popular. The internet speak that we use today will definitely be replaced by something else eventually, but I think it will take a long time for it to be forgotten.

If it was possible to have sex via the internet, the 14 year olds on Gaiaonline would finally lose their virginity

I can see the Internet being regulated by an International watchdog in a few years, to tackle crime and child abuse etc.
This will have a major negative impact as most people will have their internet monitored.

I also agree with abuse posters, about how the Internet will become more accessable, so much so that eerything and anything will be even more possible in say, 5-10 years.

I see chips being implemented into peoples brains so they can access the internet with their mind. A screen will be projected on their eye and they will surf the internet hands free.. Same basic thing for all common electrical equipment.. Music Player, Phone.. Everything.

The main idea behind enhancing technology is to make it as light weight and hands free as possible. IE: corded phone - cordless phone - cell phone - blue tooth.

We'll be seen as neanderthals, and everything which we discovered about the internet will be considered as obvious by future generations.

I think it'll become an even bigger part of our lives than it is now, and there won't be as much random hate from strangers because it'll be a lot more integrated.

Right now, for some people, "the internet" and real life are like two separate worlds, although in the future this will not be the case.

The internet generation will have overdeveloped forearms.

I can definitely see some form of regulation coming into place in the not so distant future, much as I'd hate to see it. Any idiot can easily get away with thousands of pounds/dollars worth of media, and has access to and can share all manner of illegal (and disgusting) content. It seems the obvious thing to do.
You're using UG classic, congratulations.
You should be using UG classic.

all the internet meme and 1337 sp33k will die out for 20 years, then come back as retro and we, the pit, will reminisce about how we were funnier back in the day

in future years the government will figure out a way to better moderate the internet and use it to manipulate our fragile minds

well they would if they had the resources. if you call someone a negro online, that person can contact the police and form a complaint (i think).
