Hi,

I bought an EQ pedal to stick in the FX loop of my Valveking.

(It is a cheap Behringer but I don't think that is causing the problem).

I tried it out at home and it really improved the sound. I was pretty happy.

At rehearsal I plugged everything in and just got no sound from the amp at all. When I turned it up I realised there is a very very quiet sound.
The level slider on the pedal didn't affect things.

So, the only differences between at home and rehearsal are:
1. Volume level. Obviously louder at rehearsal.
2. At home I just used guitar -> amp input. EQ in FX loop. At rehearsal I used guitar -> Zoom G7.1ut -> amp input. EQ in FX loop.

Would either of these make a difference?
I am going to try it out again at home tonight.

couple possibilities, are you using an adapter? if not, your battery might be dead. with a dead battery signal won't pass (some pedals are exceptions, i doubt this is one of them), so if your fx loop mix is at 100% (which it shoud be if you're using an EQ in your loop) your signal effectively gets roadblocked halfway through your loop.

possibility 2: patch cables went bonk on you... shit happens, test your cables.

p3: something in your zoom patches is programed to be very quiet. go back and check your levels.

EDIT: there are more (and more serious) possible problems, but check these out first and let us know what happens.

Grisky pretty much nailed it, as usual.

Something else you should try just for fun. Is run guitar>zoom>eq>return of effects loop. This would bypass the pre-amp of the VK and just use the zoom as a pre-amp. It may get you some more tones.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

Well, I guess it was a cable problem, since I only just got round to trying it and it was perfectly fine

Thanks for all help.
